This book is about a boy meeting a boy in a high school. It's by David Levithan and is a really sweet and quick read. It takes place in a town where they accept everyone that is gay, straight, and bi. The star quarterback is a drag queen. It's a fun read so you guys should check it out.

It really is. This was my first solo written book by Levithan and I cannot wait to read his other one. It's different, but a good different from other genres that I read.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like it when I started reading. The characters were so over the top, but as I settled into the story they became much more relatable. (I'm sure this was no coincidence on Levithan's part!)In fact, I really thought he captured Tony's plight well, and not just his side as the gay son, but his parents' side as extreme Christian parents of a gay son. This rings very true for a member of my family, and like Tony, she finds herself almost protecting her folks because their craziness does stem from love. He did an excellent job of treading carefully and showing the sadness of the situation more than just pointing and laughing at "the unaccepting Christians".
I'm glad you enjoyed it angelsunshine :)Another fun book that I read by Levithan was Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List. It is co-written with Rachel Cohn.
I just finished Boy Meets Boy and loved it. It was so easy to read and the characters really hit a chord with me. I know they might have seemed over the top at first, but I felt they were so realistic and could act the way they did because of the town they lived in. It felt to me like a dream as I read it, because I wish there was a place where prejudice didn't exist and everyone was accepted (that sounded kind of corny, but that is how I felt after reading it).

And after I'd really started to read, the things that felt over the top seemed to settle into a feeling of normalcy for me. I should re-read this. I've often wondered if the characters were written less "big" as the story went on, or if I just became more accepting. Like I said originally here, I feel like this response was exactly what Levithan wanted.
