~final thoughts~ :
SoC is, in my opinion, way better than Shadow and bone. The characters in S&B honestly didn't have much to them, where the characters from SoC had me instantly falling in love. The plot and writing in general was also just better in SoC.

Shadow and Bone is better SoC in my opinion
Shadow and bone::
Pros:
⭐Much more relatable characters
⭐Darkling and Nikolai
⭐Alina and Nikolai in a positive character were wonderful
⭐Even darkling in a negative character totally stole my heart
⭐The book was engaging and plot was something new
Cons:
⭐The setting/background was not explained
⭐Mal's jealousy ruined my mood
⭐I tolerated and liked the ending only because nikolai became the king
Six of Crows::
Pros
⭐Better background setting
⭐Nina is love
⭐Mathhias and Jesper were totally high school heartthrob
⭐Inej's character was pretty strong and bold
Cons:
⭐I dont like kaz
⭐The plot wasnt engaging and it was pretty basic
⭐The characters werent that relatable

~final thoughts~ : SoC stole my heart right off the bat. I think S&B is a good series too, but I just noticed a lot of missing elements to it. SoC has so many great characters that have great depth and that I actually care about in comparison to S&B. And the plot is much more gripping and exciting for me.
Shadow and Bone-setting/world-building: 5/5

~final thoughts~ : I have various thoughts about each, so let's start with Shadow and Bone. My problem, or one of my problem, is that I HATE Mal, I hate him, I can not stand the sight of him, he really irks me to no end. I really really liked Aline, so seeing end up with half the man she is really rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, he is controlling, possesive, jealous, self-centered... do I need to go on? I also feel like the rest of the characters were too much in the background of the book and didn't have almost any interactions in the plot. The great thing about S&B is the universe, the setting and of course, the villain, who we always think he may be redemned. Which is why the ending falls so short. I mean, death by dagger? of a millenium old wizard? c'mon
now, my thoughts on SIx of Crows are a tiny bit conflicting. I loved the characters, loved them. But god, I couldn't stand Kaz sometimes, Inej is almsot the onyl reason I cared about him. I also feel like the it centers a tiny bit too much around the romantic relationships and not enough on the friendships. I mean aside from Nina and Inej and Jesper and Kaz, are any of them forming any bond with their crew members? I wanna think so, I truly do, so why can't we see it? But aside from that, I loved both Six of Crows and crooked Kingdom so much.

Six of Crows:
-world building: 4/5
-plot: 3/3
-characters: 3/3
-interactions: 2/2
-ending: 2/2
total:14/15
final thoughts: i started reading s&b so that i could watch the show and was really disappointed. i wasn’t going to read soc because i thought since it was the same author i wouldn’t like it. i was so wrong. soc is one of my favorite books!
Woah, this was a real good debate. But the winner is....~drumroll~ Six of Crow series!! It got 88.5 points whereas S&B got 62.5. Nonetheless, congrats to all of you🥰
Btw stay tuned fellas, because we got a surprise challenge coming up with the SoC duology.
