Just started this morning so I'm only 34 pages in but I love the writing style. The introductions of Romeo and Shelly unique cool characters I really like them already! And Gus and Kate's friendship is really cool! I just want to say dude right now since I live in a surfer, skater town by the beach but in northern California. Haha

OMG I was gone all day yesterday so I'm reading today and I'm only on page 158 but I doubt I'll be able to put the book down much today it's so good. Speculation(view spoiler)[there are so many hints to sadness in this book. I'm sure that Grace has past away even though they haven't told us yet right? Sometimes I think I fall asleep reading and missed something important. The one doctor's appointment for Kate that gAve us no information but a foreboding feeling. I love Kate and she is going to be really sick?? No idea about what Keller 's story is and his trips to Chicago, but I'm dying to no more. I absolutely love that Kate just brings happiness to everyone. She is such a special person. So open minded and caring who wouldn't want her in their lives! I'm in love with Gus too and their friendship. (hide spoiler)]

Ending spoiler(view spoiler)[ I think I loved that about this book because it reminded me of Me before You only this time it was told from the sick ones perspective. I don't think I have ever read a book that was so sad even in Making Faces the death was unexpected and this one was drawn out in first person. What killed me 25% of this book was waiting and knowing it was coming and her being able to not only smile herself but make everyone around her happy!!! I loved that in the end Gus confessed his love for her and Keller was able to respect and honor it!! I cried Soooo much.... (hide spoiler)]

I love what Kate and Gus have but at the concert when Keller and Kate are in the audience...love it!!!! Sugar, can I just have one slap at her???? Clay getting beat up, Broke.My.Heart. Wow, Erika you had it all figured out! (view spoiler)[I was kind of hoping her sickness wasn't something so final as cancer. I was wishing for something like MS, since she seemed to be gaining in pain and discomfort. I thought maybe she has a serious condition that will shorten her life and she will be handicapped and need to be taken care of, but in the end Keller would love and support her for the time the life they could have. That was my wishful thinking, not just 3 months together. (hide spoiler)]

I was too emotional to comment last night. (view spoiler)[ I think this is a beautiful story of a special women, Bright Side the perfect nick name and how she made a difference in all of her friends lives. She impacted in a good way everyone around her, at least the ones who let her in (Maggie the awful person she was, was an exception but Kate tried). It makes you want to have a more sunny approach to life and appreciate everything you have. With that said, I could of stopped reading the book before the last 50 pages and been happy with it. The drawn out death was too much for me. It hit too close to home right now with a dear friend who after 5 years her body can't take the chemo anymore, so to say I was an emotional wreck in this one is putting it mildly. :/ Still a beautiful story, about a beautiful person and amazing friends around her. Loved all the characters. Curious is anybody still worried about Gus? I wish a had a little more of an ending with him, like how we got to hear Keller's CD and know that he is going to be okay. I think I wanted a little more closure with Gus too. (hide spoiler)]

Sugar totally agree! Clay that broke me heart, but I loved Kate in that moment and was very torn over Gus/Keller for a while! The part you are on with Rook was a great part!

I was going to say that he will get his own story and I am sooo excited for it!!!

I loved that she always says dude and that it becomes and fun inside joke every time Shelly says it!!!

Finished (view spoiler)[ I loved this book. Brightside, Kate, Katherine and Katie is possibly one of my favorite characters. I cried so much!!!! I am so happy there is going to be another book. I hope we get to see how Kellar is doing. I love that Gus and Keller were grown up enough to be honest with each other but most important be there for Kate. I loved her friends. Her Dad what a jerk, but I loved that Kellers dad was there for him. Anyway, I will be thinking about this for awhile. So glad we read this (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

I have to agree! Kate has topped the list as my favorite character and I've been thinking about the book all day too. I loved Gus so much in the story, but the way Keller was able to be so grown up and understand that Gus loved her too, that really said so much for what a wonderful person Keller was. I love this book though my heart is aching while reading.

OMG. I have never laughed so much or cried so hard while reading the same book. It was so inspiring and devastating. I think I'm ruined now. :( But it was so worth it. I don't think a book has touched me so much since I read Me Before You.

That is exactly what I thought!!! For me this was even more touching than me Before You because it was from Bright Side's perspective.....heartwrenchingly beautiful!!!

Yes, I agree about your comparison to Me Before You! So glad you loved the book. Such a difficult read, yet so inspiring and beautiful. Now you have to read Gus!!! Gus was soooooo good!
