Characters first? It's alright if I'm the girl, right?
Okay! I'll have my character up in a few!
Name: Madelyn Iris Easton
Age: 20
Appearance:

Age: 20
Appearance:

Okay great! If you want me to start I can do that in a little bit.
((Here I am! Hang on and I'll get something up.))
The marriage ceremony days were upon them. Anyone who was 20 years old was meeting in the committee hall to commit their lives to their matched spouse. Of course, since there were a lot of 20 year olds, not everyone had the same day but were instead scattered throughout the week. Madelyn's, however, happened to land on this day. She was dressed in a simple white dress, one of the ones that every 20 year old woman wore on her marriage ceremony day. Now she was just waiting to step out of the back room and meet whoever she was supposed to be marrying. She was dreading it because she wished they'd allow her to meet her soon to be spouse ahead of time.
When it was Madelyn's turn, she took a deep breath and followed the attendant out onto the stage lifted above the crowd so everyone could watch the commitment go through as they signed the papers, agreed to marry, and stepped off together with their wedding rings and the address of the little house they'd be moving into.
"Madelyn Easton," the head committee man, Enderson, spoke over the loud speaker. "And Emmanuel Carter," he finished, gesturing towards the door where the man would walk through to meet her on the stage.
Madelyn gulped, feeling suddenly sick to her stomach. She wanted to protest. Emmanuel?! Emmanuel Carter? There had to be some sort of mistake. They hated each other. Madelyn's eyes frantically shot towards Enderson but he did not look at her.

((I hope that made sense; there isn't a right or a wrong I'm just making stuff up as I go XD))
Today was the day, the day that Emmanuel wasn’t really looking forward to. He never liked the idea of getting married. He was the type of person that liked to be free, being tied to one woman wasn’t what he called being free. But his parents made it clear that he didn’t have the choice in the matter. He had to get married to whoever these stupid ass city put with him, even if he didn’t want to. He stood against the wall, with his arms crossed as he listened to the other couples being matched. He hoped that whoever he was matched with would at least being sexy, you know. A man had needs and maybe- just maybe if she met all his needs then he could be loyal to her.
Seeing how his mother made it clear that he had to be loyal in the marriage, which didn’t sound like any fun for him. He was young and he wanted to live a life that he wanted not that some people that don’t even know him wanted him to live. Madelyn Eastson he repeated in his head when he heard her name being called. He shook his head and chuckled. I feel bad for the who have to ma- before he was able to finish his sentence, he heard his name. He sighed and rolled his eyes, he throw his head back hitting the wall behind him that he was leaning on. Of course it was him, that got stuck with her.
Emmanuel said nothing as he walked into the stage, he had his hands behind his back with his eyes glued to the floor. He couldn’t look at her, he knew if he did he would not be able to hold his tongue. He would have picked anyone else, before he even thought of picking Madelyn. He stopped walking once he got to the x that was placed on the stage in blue tap. He wear what all the men had to wear to this stupid match up. It was a nice suit, a blue button up shirt with black pants. But Emmanuel couldn’t look like everyone else, he left three buttons undone, showing his tattoos.
Which everyone in town hated. He was the only one that was tattooed to the limit. He didn’t have no part of his body that had not be touched by ink. The crowd watched as Emmanuel there, he could feel Madelyn’s eyes. They were about to burn a hole into his skull. But he didn’t look up at her still. He heard his parents clapping and cheering for this marriage, even though they knew that their son hated the woman he was marrying. Emmanuel just controlled his breathing, trying to remain claim.
Madelyn stood mute on the stage, her own feet placed directly over the blue taped X. Her life was ruined now. First, they hated each other and had since they were little, and second, now they were supposed to marry and raise kids together for the "benefit of society." Disgusting. Madelyn stared in disbelief at Emmanuel before letting out a huff and turning away from him.
Enderson rapped a mallet on the table to make people quiet down. Was this really a courtroom? Madelyn had never been looking forward to this day, and now that her future was crushed by Emmanuel, everything else about this place was driving her nuts. Stop banging that stupid mallet, she thought with a scowl. Enderson began a speech for the two of them, the same one he repeated over and over again with only a few changes to the names. He spoke about how they would learn to cherish each other, take care of each other, love, grow, and overall, fulfil their duties to their city. Once he finished, he told them both to step up and sign their names on the document stating their legal marriage.
"Madelyn Iris Easton," Maddie wrote, and after her name she had to add the despised last name of Carter. She handed the pen over to her new husband (inwardly she groaned and wanted to run away) and stepped to the side to give him space. Once Emmanuel finished, they were instructed to leave the stage -- here everyone clapped and shouted happily -- and go find a pair of seats to sit together for the remainder of the ceremony. Madelyn did not thank Enderson but she walked down the steps of the stage to go sit down.

Emmanuel said nothing he just took the pen from Madelyn and signed his name. He rolled his eyes and throw the pen on the table. “Excuse me?” Enderson said with a raised eyebrow. But Emmanuel just glared at him for a second before he walked off. Following behind Madelyn, he spotted their chairs, they had taped their names on the chairs. It was just that they had but Madelyn Iris Carter instead of her real name. Yes, her real name. Carter was his, and he didn’t want her to have it. He walked over and glared at it before he rolled his eyes and sat down where is name was. Then he glared over at Madelyn and then looked at the sit next to him, like to tell her to sit. Then he looked forward and watched the other matches being made for the day.
((They hate each other so much 😂))
Madelyn twisted the ring around on her finger, the one that Enderson had given her. Emmanuel had his own. Both of them had a same engraving on the band to let others know that they were a couple together. Madelyn scowled at Emmanuel and sank down in her seat beside him. He better not be one of those husbands who would demand for their wives to constantly do this and that or otherwise get angry. Madelyn could feel the disgust at her rolling off of Emmanuel and she crossed her arms over her chest to watch the rest of the ceremonies. Couple after couple. Sometimes they kissed, other times they just smiled or did nothing much before walking off together. Maddie's and Emmanuel's had probably been the most negative one yet. When it was over, it was announced that there was options to either collect the keys to their new home together and head off for the night or stay for food and games and hanging out. Maddie did not want to go home yet if it meant more time in his presence, but she wondered if Emmanuel would tell her what to do again. "I'd like to stay here for now," she said matter of factly. She looked at him. The other married couples were already standing and choosing what they wanted to do.

[yes and i am loving the negative energy. 🙃]
Emmanuel was glad it was over and then it was announced to either leave or stay for a while. He wasn’t about to head home with her.. alone.. No that wasn’t going to work for him. He heard her and glanced down at her. “That’s fine with me.” he said, he didn’t care what she did honestly. Yeah, she was is wife in the city eyes. But not in his at all. He waved her off and head to his few friends, they were standing outside and were waiting for him. They were happy with who they had gotten matched with. Actually they were already in a relationship with each other. But here he was, with someone that he hated with every bone in his body. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair, he even shake through it. To get it out that slick back hair style that was required for the ceremony.
“So you and Madelyn.” Tyler said once Emmanuel got into ears reach. Emmanuel glared at him, Tyler got matched this his girlfriend of three years Faith. It was clear that the two were in love and happy with the result from the ceremonies. Then there was Ruth and Malik, who were best friends and now married. This is wasn’t fair in Emmanuel’s eyes. There were other girls that he could have been matched with.
“Don’t even.” Emmanuel said, he glanced back at Madelyn and then pulled at his right ear. It was something he had been doing since he was a child. He only did it when he was upset. He turned back to Tyler and shrugged. Faith laughed and wrapped both of her arms around Tyler. “I don’t think they are going to last the night. They might just kill each other.” she said. “I believe it, look at him fucking with his ear again.” Tyler decided to add. Ruth and Malik just laughed. Emmanuel rolled his ear and forced himself to stop pulling at his ear. But it wasn’t his fault, she was annoying and was a total know it all. “Come on. Let’s get something to eat. I am hungry.” he said as he walked passed the four.
Once they got to the food stands that’s when Zoe came up behind him and poked at his shoulder. He glanced back and thought that he was going to see Madelyn but then he saw Zoe, his ex. The one that everyone knew wanted him back. He raised an eyebrow at her, she was nineteen. So she hadn’t gotten matched with anyone- lucky. Everyone stared at the two. “What you want, Zoe?” he asked.
((I'll reply soon as I can! Would you mind not using swear words? Or use **?))
((Yes, they're so negative right now XD
And thanks! Appreciate it.))
It was good that he was fine with it, because she wasn't planning on going early anyway. She was relieved when he walked away and gave her some space. She too got up and walked away to the other side of the room where they had other food laid out on tables at thr food stands. She grabbed a deli sandwich and a bottle of water, looking around for any of her friends. She noticed Natasha standing with a bunch of other girls. Natasha was also 19 so she wasn't married yet or matched with anyone.
"Maddie!" Natasha said, hurrying over and surrounding her friend in a hug. "Girl, you were matched with Emmanuel. I know you two pretty much despise each other so I hope it goes well. You know you can come see me whenever you need, okay?" She pulled back and looked at her. "Now come on. Let's enjoy ourselves while we have the chance." She tugged Maddie over to the group of girls. Maddie glanced momentarily over where her "husband" was talking with a group of his own friends.
"Things can always get better," Natasha tried to assure her.
"With Emmanuel?" Scoffed Maddie. She turned her back to where he was and focused on the conversation at hand.

((I'm traveling over the weekend so I may not reply a whole lot. Once monday starts I'll be back to normal hopefully.))
[oh- okay. i hope you have fun.]
As the day went on Emmanuel and Zoe wondered off from the others. They were being to cute and happy for their taste specially for Emmanuel. He sat away from the group of people and Zoe came and sat next to him. She put her hands under her butt and started to swing her legs. Mannie glanced over it had been almost two hours now and she still hadn’t answered his question from earlier. “Stop looking at me like that.” she said without even looking over at her, he sighed and turned his glanced toward everyone else.
“So Madelyn huh?” she asked under her breath. Emmanuel rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. “I guess. It’s not like I got a say in it.” he answered. Emmanuel really didn’t know why this had to happen to him. “I wonder who will i get matched with next year.” she said as her eyes went to the floor and started to swing her feet slower. “Mm.. i am a living fact that you never know.” he said with a shake of his head and a slight chuckle. “Is it weird that even though you were a year older than me that i thought that maybe it would’ve been you..?” she asked. Emmanuel glared over at her, he could tell she was hurt. It wasn’t like he liked Madelyn so part of him didn’t understand the whole thing the other half however.
Mannie put his hand on top of her head and patted it, she glanced over at him. “No, but I know they weren’t because of that fact. But, whoever you end up will be a lucky guy.” he said, leaned over and kissed her on the cheek before he got up. “I will see you around, okay..” he said not needing to look back at her to know she nodded her.
((Thanks!))
The whole time that Natasha was with Madelyn, she went on to talk about what Madelyn's new life would be like. Of course, she was only trying to be positive by pointing out the good things of what married life would be like. Maddie was quiet about it even though she wanted to tell her friend to stop once and for all. She didn't want to hear about all of the things she'd have to put up with. Not if Emmanuel was in the picture.
Maddie had no idea how Emmanuel would deal with this misfortune. She didn't know if he'd be faithful or not but it wasn't like Maddie even personally wanted to have anything to do with him. She'd probably still get jealous but for what she had no clue.
"Imagine what your house will look like! If they're each furnished differently, then you'll have to let me come over and see it. I think it's great that they do stuff like that! I hope next year my house is super cute. My favorite color is yellow so something bright and cherry would be amazing," she said. Maddie nodded along. They'd been here for a few hours now, chatting about things going on in their lives and it would be time to leave soon. Unlike herself and Mannie, other couples were actually celebrating their marriages. Maddie gulped. She wanted to disappear.
"I see your man," Natasha said casually, sipping a drink. "It'll be okay. One day at a time and maybe you two will learn how to get along. You'll have to and it'll be worth it."

Emmanuel was making his way to the parking lot when Tyler walked up behind him and grabbed him by the shoulder. “I think your forgetting something- well i mean someone.” he whispered to his friend before he patted him on the back and walked off with Faith by his side. Faith waved goodbye to Emmanuel, he waved back and sighed. He knew what Tyler was talking about but it didn’t make it easier for him to turn around and look for her either. But Emmanuel was a gentleman even though most thought the opposite, he couldn’t leave her here to walk home.
Even though he hated her, there was some lines he wouldn’t cross. He turned around, his eyes went searching for his so called wife. He saw her standing with Natasha. He rolled her eyes, two annoying girls together was never a good thing.
Emmanuel walked passed everyone, he stopped in front of Madelyn. “It’s time to go. I have to go to work tomorrow.” he said before he looked down at his watch. He was trying to stay away from her and their new house for as long as possible but he needed to work tomorrow. He couldn’t be late, he ignored Natasha and just stared at Madelyn for a moment with a raised eyebrow. He shook his head and pulled his car keys. “Meet me at my car.” he said before he turned around and walked off. Their were only a few more people left.
Emmanuel made it to his car and leaned against it, he sighed and glanced around before he pulled out his pack of cigarettes. He even had a lighter in his little wedding suit. He lit it and started smoking, why not while he waited for this girl to come on:
Madelyn nodded to Emmanuel, chewing her bottom lip as she turned towards Natasha. "Bye. I'll see you later at work tomorrow," she said, and leaned in for a hug.
Natasha hugged her back. "You'll be fine," she whispered in her ear. "Do your best. One day at a time."
They parted and Madelyn said goodbye to Natasha and several of her friends nearby. Then sadly, she pulled herself away and out of the large building. Outside it was chilly. She shivered and pulled her arms around herself, searching for her so called husband. She was sure that he despised every part of her. She didn't want to get into a car with him much less move into a home with him. It was disgusting and she groaned inwardly.
When she spotted his car she headed over and paused in front of Emmanuel. "Guess we should get this over with," she said, wrinkling her nose at the smoke from his cigarette. She supposed this was yet again another thing for her to have to get used to.

Really? Really.. was all he could think why she looked at him like she never saw someone smoke a cigarette before. He could tell she didn’t like it, which made him want to just blow the smoke in her face on purpose. He smirked at that thought as he wondered if he should be that mean and petty, he sighed and shook his head before he took another pull at it and throw it on the ground. He stomped onto as he motioned for her to get in the car, he pulled open his driver side door and got in.
He started his car and waited for Madelyn to get in the passenger sir. Once she was he drove off, he followed the directions all the way to their new home. Eww just- mm eww he would rather think of this whole situation as a bad prank and he lost. Soon they were their, he driving into their two car garage. It automatically lifted up for once car reached the sensor.
Then closed when his whole car got in, Emmanuel still haven’t said anything the whole time he was driving, to him their was no point in talking and acting like i like you. Emmanuel got out the car, and pushed the button to unlock the trunk. He grabbed his bags and walked into the house wasn’t so bad, he glanced around as he walked down the hall. He found the master bedroom and throw his bags onto the bed.
Madelyn tossed her own bags in the back seat and sat stiffly beside Emmanuel. This was so awkward and she loathed it with all of her soul. Why on earth did the stupid committee think they could make their plans for them? It was already expected that they'd help out with the population and have at least one kid after a year but Madelyn wanted nothing to do with him, much less a kid that was half his. She grimaced and stared out her window. The silence between them stretched out awkwardly but she made no attempt to break it. Silence was better at the moment.
Once they arrived at their house and parked in the garage, Madelyn climbed out and snatched her bags before he locked the car and she had to ask him something. She didn't ask for help, either, to carry them in. He had his own bags. She went inside, heading towards their bedroom to dump her stuff on the ground. It was best she put her things away. There was a walk in closet and a huge dresser, a king sized bed and side tables. Madelyn yanked a drawer open and kneeled down in front of it. She began stuffing her clothes into it as fast as she could to get it over with. Her clothes took up three drawers in total and when she finished she dumped her bags in the closet. Without a word she left, going to explore the rest of the house.

Emmanuel unzipped his bag and started hanging his clothes up, he had some clothes that needed to go into the dresser but since Madelyn had already started over there, he wasn’t about to even walk over or look in that direction. This was worse then he thought he thought he was going to have to worry about being faithful, and not disappoint his parents.
But this right here, all he could think about were ways that he could get her to walk out the relationship. You know- it’s petty but what you expect him to do. They shouldn’t have paired them, it didn’t make any sense. He only hanged his clothes on one side of the closet. By time he was done she had walked out, he sighed with relief the air in the room felt lighter. He ran his hands through his hair, and shook his head. This wasn’t going to work but at least she wasn’t talking to him trying to fake like she was happy. He finished unpacking putting some of his clothes in the dresser.
He put his books in the drawers of his nightstand beside the bed, with his glasses. He took out his toothbrush, toothpaste and his mouthwash from his bag. That’s when he throw his now empty bags on the floor in the closet, he made sure that they were on his side of the closet he didn’t need to her complaining. Even though he was sure they she would soon find something to complain about, even if it’s the smallest thing.
Emmanuel walked into the bathroom that was connected to the master bedroom, it was actually a nice a bathroom. He placed his things on his side of the bathroom. He was glanced around, they smart enough to make the house big enough, for them so they didn’t really have to speak or even see each other for that much. Emmanuel took his shirt off and walked to the shower, perfect time to check the water pressure right? Mannie waited for the water to get hot before he took the rest of his clothes off. Which didn’t take long at all. He was soon taking a shower, erasing the worse day of his life out of his mind at least for a few minutes.
Madelyn had one last bag of things to empty that she'd left by the garage door since it was heavy. She would have passed by it and gone on to look around the house, but at the sound of the shower she decided she could head back into that room before he came out. Madelyn lugged the bag back and started pulling her things out; books, random knickknacks that she had had for years, a picture of her with her parents, and other small things. Once they were put away she left again.
The house was surprisingly big. Why they needed so much space, Madelyn didn't know. But at least it made it so the two of them could have breaks from each other. That was obviously necessary. There was a large kitchen which flowed into a dining room, and at the front of the house sat the living room complete with a piano and several couches. Madelyn knew how to play piano but most likely she end up bothering Emmanuel than anything else. Down the hall were the bedrooms; the master bedroom with its walk in closet and bathroom, two other bedrooms, and an office room for either of them if they needed it. There was a second bathroom pressed in between the other bedrooms. Madelyn paused, sighing. It would be so much better if she could just take one of these bedrooms and be able to stay away from Emmanuel.

((Okay. Thanks for letting me know.))
Emmanuel soon was out of the shower, he dried himself off and wrapped the towel around himself as he walked out the bathroom and into the bedroom. He got dressed into his pajama pants, he never was the type to wear a shirt to bed. Fit weird to him so he didn’t buy to much attention to the fact he was shirtless. He placed his towel back into the bathroom when he was done with it. Emmanuel was going to look around the house but the faceted that he knew she was walking around some where just made him shake his head and decide to just call it a night. He turned out the lights, well- he kept his nightstand lamp on after he climbed into the bed and got a book out of his dress along with his glasses. Emmanuel placed them on before he started reading. Reading was a type of escape for him.
((That is a nice bedroom! Same with the bathroom.))
Madelyn poked her head into each of the rooms, scoping out where everything was. She was having trouble settling down, especially for the night. Once they woke up it would be a reminder that her world was upside down and horrible. She had no clue how she'd be able to survive this all. It would feel like torture, having to tiptoe around him so he wouldn't freak out and yell at her or something.
Finally, there was no point in further wandering and Madelyn returned to their room. Emmanuel was reading in bed but she hardly noticed as she beelined for her dresser drawers. She pulled out a pajama set and took it to the bathroom. With the door closed she changed, used the toilet, and brushed her teeth. At least they seemed to have a nice house. The bathroom was quite large and extravagant. Unfortunately she would have to clean it all herself unless they hired a cleaning service. She left the bathroom.
Since the corner lights were both still on, Madelyn grabbed her own book. She was hesitant to get in bed but finally she did. It was king sized. Maybe there was tons of space. She quickly buried her nose in the next chapter, since the book was already started.

Since the corner lights were both still on, Madelyn grabbed her own book. She was hesitant to get in bed but finally she did. It was king sized. Maybe there was tons of space. She quickly buried her nose in the next chapter, since the book was already started.
Emmanuel sighed softly to himself when he heard her come into the room, he didn’t look up from his book. But her moving around became to much for him at a point. He tried to stay reading blocking her out but once she climbed into bed with him, he couldn’t take it anymore. He got out of bed and grabbed his pillow, book and of course his phone. “You can sleep here, I will find somewhere else to sleep.” he said before he turned off his lamp and walked out the room. He found another room which was a few doors down from the main bedroom. It was smaller than the other but, he didn’t mind at all. He climbed into bed and went back to reading in no time. He only was able to read two complete chapters before he headed up falling asleep with the book laid across his chest.
Emmanuel woke up a few hours later, his alarm on his phone went off. He sighed softly as he lift up and grabbed his phone it was 5:30 am, turned off the alarm and rubbed his eyes before he got up. His short cut hair was a mess, he walked into the second bathroom. Washed his face to wake himself before he tip toed into the main bedroom, as to no wake up Madelyn. Tip toed into the bathroom. Mannie grabbed his toothpaste, toothbrush and then went to the walk-in closet. He grabbed his clothes from the closet and left out the room. Without making to much noise. Emmanuel brushed his teeth and got dress, even fixed his hair before he headed out the house for work.
"You think I know what I'm supposed to do?" Madelyn grumbled when he stalked out of the room without giving her a second chance. She rolled her eyes and gave up immediately on her book, instead tossing it onto the side table and turning her lamp off. She knew she would desperately hate the rest of her life. Madelyn flopped down and closed her eyes, pulling the sheets partway over her head.
The next morning, she had woken before Emmanuel came into the master bedroom, but instead of getting up right away, she listened to him moving around the room and finally heading out again. She tried to fall back asleep but it wasn't easy. Her body wasn't cooperating at all. Instead she too climbed out of bed, got ready for work and threw a uniform on for her nurse position at the hospital. Of course Emmanuel hadn't left her the car but most likely he needed it himself. But she would just have to walk the whole way and explain to her boss that she didn't have a car anymore. It was a stupid rule, about how they weren't allowed to have more than one, at least for a long time. Everyone worked in the downtown city and the resident houses surrounded the city in a neighborhood. Still. It was annoying.
On her way to work a man stopped his car and rolled down his window. "Maddie!" He called. "Why don't you jump aboard? No point in walking for so long!"
Maddie quickly took him up on his offer and climbed into his passenger seat. "Thanks, John," she said, letting out a small sigh and leaning her head back. John wasn't matched yet because he was still 19 for a few more months.

Emmanuel had his music going as drove to work. Emmanuel was one of the boxers in his town, which weren’t a lot. Only four actually, and Emmanuel was the best. He didn’t tell his parents and he much no one else would tell them knowing that they would be all worried and then start talking about all the ways he could get hurt. Emmanuel sighed as he parked his car. That’s when it hit him that he was suppose to share the car with his- new wife. He turned off the car and shrugged his shoulders as he go out the car after he turned it off and then headed into the gym.
And there were the other three boxers already practicing. Emmanuel said nothing as he walked to the back of the gym and set himself up in his usual spot. As he started wrapping his hands up. Bruce one of the fighters stood up and walked over to Mannie. “So your married now kid. That’s good.” he said once he was in front of him. Emmanuel kept his mouth close and shrugged. “Don’t do that, she is a sweet girl.” he said Bruce was a slightly older man. He was happily married to his wife with two- no three kids now and he was excited to tell everyone they were trying for a fourth one.
Emmanuel nodded trying to just agree with Bruce for him to leave him alone but then Bruce started talking to him about telling Madelyn about his job, just in case something happened to him. She would be aware at least but, Mannie felt as if that woman wouldn’t care if he dropped dead right at that moment, So there is no point. After some more mhmms Bruce and Emmanuel conversation turned into some matches they had coming up. Bruce asked to fight him in the ring for practice.
"So," John began slowly, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. He slowed to a stop at the red light and waited patiently for it to change. "How's life? You got married yesterday."
Maddie pressed her lips together and let out a breath through her nose. "It's going. I think everyone in this entire city knows that Emmanuel and I don't like each other at all. And then they pair us together like that! For life!"
Divorce was not something that was allowed in this strict community. Anyone who attempted it was arrested and the law wouldn't pass for the two who wished to divorce.
"They have their ways when they pair people up," John said.
"You're not married yet. Easy for you to say."
John sighed. "Sure I'm not. But whoever I'm paired with in the future is for the best. Somehow it is. Anyway, at least now you don't have to be around him until the evenings and mornings. Otherwise, you're still your own selves."
"He hates me. I hate having that reminder whenever I step into what's supposed to be my house. All he does is glare at me and...never mind." Madelyn shut up.
They drove the rest of the way in silence before John dropped her off at the hospital. Back at work, Madelyn truly felt at home, at least when people weren't asking her constantly about how her marriage was. She ignored those questions as much as possible. While she was here, Maddie focused on helping her patients.

“Okay kid. Let’s take a break.” Bruce said as he turned his back on Emmanuel and started to take his gear off. Emmanuel sighed and nodded as he did the same. He got out the ring and sat on the bench and started to drink some water out of his water bottle. He glanced at the clock hanging on the wall. Bruce and him had been fighting longer than he thought.
“Man i got to go.” he said as he grabbed his stuff. “i got a match at four. I will see y’all later.” he said he waved at everyone before walking out the gym and jumping into his car. He drove about a hour or two out of town to another little town. He parked his car next Tylers car. Tyler was the person that made Emmanuels matches, they didn’t have that couch or trainer and student type of work relationship. Tyler just the matches and for that Emmanuel payed 30% of what he got out of the match.
Which to some that first hear about it think that Tyler was getting payed to much but, Emmanuel really payed him that much because they were close friends. If it was anyone else honestly they wouldn’t even be close to that much. Emmanuel got out his car and walked over to Tyler’s and tapped on his window. Tyler came out seconds later. “So who is it this time?” Emmanuel asked as he leaned back onto his car and crossed his arms as he watched the man come out his own car. “Some dude from some big city.” he said. Emmanuel nodded and followed Tyler into the building. He was sure he was going to win, he had some anger to get out tonight and he wasn’t about to go easy on anyone.
Maddie checked into the hospital and went straight to room 209, where her favorite patient, a little boy fighting cancer, was sitting up in bed and drawing a picture. She stepped into the room.
"Hi, Ethan. Good morning. How did you sleep?" she asked, smiling fondly at him and walking towards his side.
Ethan looked up from his drawing, setting his colored pencils down. "Hi, Maddie. I'm doing okay. I slept most of the night this time." He paused, looking towards Maddie's hand. He noticed the ring and raised his eyebrows. "You're married! What is your husband's name? Is he nice?"
"His name is Emmanuel," Maddie said. She did not think he was very nice as they obviously hated each other, but she didn't say that out loud. It wouldn't be appropriate. "We are still getting to know each other. Can I take your temperature and pulse?" she asked. She liked asking first to get permission as it gave the patient the opportunity to "choose."

| I am glad if you said, no i wouldn’t have known what else to have happen lmao |
It was way past midnight, Emmanuel had a busted lip and a big cut on the side of his face. It was no way Madelyn wasn’t going to notice. But he had already came up with a lie that made sense and he was sure that his new wife would buy. She might even care that he looked like he got hit by a truck. And that wouldn’t matter to Emmanuel, least if she didn’t ask he wouldn’t have to lie. Which he was sure the whole town could agree wasn’t his stranger suit. He wasn’t even sure how he kept him being a boxer a secret for so long.
He pulled into the garage, it didn’t seem like she was up. But he still made sure he stayed as quiet as he could be. Emmanuel walked into the kitchen and turned the light on, he didn’t bother looking around. Thinking that she was sleep or at least acting like she was. Whichever one was it, it didn’t matter. The point meant she wouldn’t bother coming out to see where he been. They weren’t like the rest of the married couples. He opened the freezer and grabbed an ice pack and placed it on the side of his face. He pulled out a stack of money out of his pocket and placed it on the counter. He had win the match in the second round. But the man did put up a good fight, like Emmanuel thought he would. His win earned him fifty thousand dollars in cash. He sighed as he opened the refrigerator and pulled the jar of jelly. He soon made himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Once he was done, he used his foot and kicked the refrigerator door closed as he took a bite of the sandwich while still holding the ice pack against his face.
