I wasn’t sure about this book before starting it, as I know a few people who had given up on it part-way through. Whilst I enjoyed the book overall, I can see why others might not have, and I would have preferred it to have had fewer pages about the theological differences between the different order of monks within the Catholic church. It was quite a slow read, and there was lots of detail about the historical setting, and I really enjoyed the mystery, which took me quite a long time to work out.
