I'm sooo excited to start this! From what I've heard even people who aren't huge King fans had positive things to say about this one.

So far I'm really really liking it! The beginning was a little weird and I was trying to see how it fit into the story but I think it's about to come together. Hoping to finish this weekend but we'll see lol

Oh no! D: I hope you're feeling better!

Even though it’s a mini-series they didn’t capture nearly half of the parts I loved in The stand. For instance no characters had any back-story so I don’t understand how people who never read the epic novel would even react to this mini-series!
However, they scenes were amazing and realizing, bolder was exactly how I envisioned it and new Vegas was better than I could conjure up in my head!
Pros and cons I guess.
I think the institute should be hard to mess up though! High hopes!

By the way new on here and have been going along my King list alphabetically so can discuss Jan.-Apr., Sep. and Oct. and Different Seasons for Dec. LOL

Welcome Emery! We are not a strict group. Read at your own pace, lord knows I do lol.

I pray it's better than the Dark Tower Film. That was garbage. How can you create one film from 7 epic stories in a long series? I can't believe they attempted it the way they did. Hopefully in the future they do the entire series justice.

This month we are tackling a bigger book. Not too big....,but definitely bigger than April's. I purchased the paperback Hodder edition at 496 pages. If you have the U.S. edition it will be around 580 pages depending on if you have the hardcover or the paperback. The reason I picked this book for the month of May is because Lala's readathon #buzzwordathon's theme for May is house/home. Now we could have done Black House, but we did that a year or so ago. Like I've been doing with a few of the other books we've read so far this year. This is a stretch to the theme. I mean you could technically live at an institute, so lets go with it.
The institute is blurbed to be "the most riveting and unforgettable story of kids confronting evil since IT." That right there is a bold statement. IT is in the top 5 King books for me, so I'm definitely looking forward to reading this one.
If you want a little more detail...our main character Luke Elli's parents are murdered and he is stolen away to an institute that houses other kids with supernatural powers. That's all I want to read from the synopsis. I hate spoiling myself. What do you guys think of psychic powers? King tends to use that theme a lot. Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis and telepathy are the most standard.

If you click on the link above you'll get to take a trip through all of King's characters with psychic abilities. One of my favorite characters is Danny Torrance from The Shining.
Now that we've discussed the book a bit, what about a screenplay? Yes, this book which came out in 2019 is already in the works to be on screen, whether it's the big screen or our home screens. The same team that was behind the tv series Mr. Mercedes has acquired the film rights for The Institute. They are thinking this too will be a limited series.
I haven't watched a tv adaptation of one of King's books. This might be the time to test one out. What do you guys think of adaptations of King's books?
Well that's it my friends. Thanks as always for participating in this read a long and I hope you all the best in this month's read.
Good Luck and Happy Reading!
