I was misdiagnosed with an eating disorder when I was 17 and I was shoved into an eating disorder program. It was difficult to be in the program not only because the doctors would invalidate my real issues but because I saw how much people were struggling and how it could effect their future. Eating disorders can cause life long effects like preventing you from having kids, hair falling out, and heart conditions. It's so sad that people can accidentally ruin their chances of having a perfect future because they get an eating disorder :(

I've been misdiagnosed with things before as well {not eating disorders tho} It sucks, I'm sorry you had to go through that.

(view spoiler)[I was never diagnosed with an eating disorder but I was going down that road not that long ago...I do still have problems with things like body image and eating at the moment. It started from my depression but then had to do with bad self-image and hating myself. I've always been on the skinny/smaller side my whole life and everyone always tells me how pretty I am but I felt {and still feel most of the time} that I was too fat or ugly and everyone was just lying. I lost a lot of weight and am still trying to stay at a healthy number....I would see how long I could go without eating {without my family noticing} and go for runs 4-5 times a day, this mainly happened in the spring/summer, so on one day I didn't eat or drink much and spent all day running outside and passed out from dehydration and heat stroke that evening {which I also hid from my family}. I didn't really get noticed until I went to the doctor June and they said I was very under weight, I got enough back to pass the next weight check the doctor set up but then I have been fighting to stay in that healthy number. I still sometimes skip meals on bad mental health days but I no longer try going full days without eating or over working myself by running 4, 5 times a day. I'm still trying to heal from a lot of things.
