I'm going to try and pick up a compilation of Sappho's surviving works! Any recommendations for the best translation/compilation, with a good introduction and notes?
A short and interesting work from America by a woman is Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson. Like I said it's really short and it follows Mary Rowlandson's capture by Native Americans during King Philip's War. The book was first published in 1682.
I'm reading Sappho for this prompt. I've read some of her poetry a long time ago, but now I want to read all of it, that is, what is left of it.I found Delphi Complete Works Of Sappho on Scribd. It contains three different translations: 1907 translation by Bliss Carman, 1910 by John Myers, and more modern 2011 dual text translation by Peter Russell. I thought it might be fun to compare all these different translations. There are not many notes in this edition, though.

I will be reading a medieval play by Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim, namely the "Pafnutia" ("Conversion of the Harlot Thais").
