Women writers prior to 1700 can be difficult to find but their work is fascinating! What do you think you'll pick for this prompt?

Laura Normand | 2 comments I'm going to try and pick up a compilation of Sappho's surviving works! Any recommendations for the best translation/compilation, with a good introduction and notes?

Amanda | 5 comments A short and interesting work from America by a woman is Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson. Like I said it's really short and it follows Mary Rowlandson's capture by Native Americans during King Philip's War. The book was first published in 1682.

Lana | 7 comments I'm reading Sappho for this prompt. I've read some of her poetry a long time ago, but now I want to read all of it, that is, what is left of it.
I found Delphi Complete Works Of Sappho on Scribd. It contains three different translations: 1907 translation by Bliss Carman, 1910 by John Myers, and more modern 2011 dual text translation by Peter Russell. I thought it might be fun to compare all these different translations. There are not many notes in this edition, though.
