Paradise Lost is referenced in probably hundreds of books but the most fun one I've just found online is that its referenced in The Mortal Instruments.
I can't imagine this readathon without reading some Shakespeare. I'll be reading 'Macbeth', which is referenced in many books I'm sure, but also in one of my favorites, 'The Goldfinch' by Donna Tartt.

Macbeth is probably my favorite tragedy by Shakespeare (based on what I've read so far.) I hope you enjoy it!

Now's the perfect time. :)
I'll be crawling my way through The Inferno! Not with the intent of finishing, but of doing a Canto per day!
I will be reading the poetry of Sappho for this, since it was already referenced by classical Greek and Roman authors.
update on paradise lost: i have dnf'd at 52 pages haha. i felt like i was just reading it to say that i've read it, i wasn't taking anything in.

Definitely don't force yourself to read something you ain't into! Honestly I've only read the first few sections of Paradise Lost and can understand not being into it. Maybe trying a play or some fairytale style stories could work better :)
