Apparently they’re going to animate Galaxy 4 now.

Yes!Much as I love getting all the Troughton's, there are a bunch of Hartnell's that I would love to see.
Very cool.
I’ve gotten all of Hartnell’s episodes either on DVD or, those that all are only available as audio, on CD. Troughton’s episodes I’ve almost gotten them all. I still need Wheel in Space and Space Pirates on CD and I’ll finish his episodes off. And I’ve got those on order and they should be arriving next week.
That only leave Tom Baker’s City of Death and I’ll have a complete run of classic series Doctor Who. 😸
That is pretty impressive. My goal is just to watch every story. I don't really have the urge to own them all.
So, I don't do the CDs, I just wait for the reconstructions.
Though, I am only two away from owning all the Target novelizations.

and it only took me 35 years to do it.
Took me 25 years to get and read all 181 Doc Savage novels. It’s an accomplishment. But once I’ve got the whole series, then what am I gonna collect? I got to collect something. It’s my nature. 😼
I'm jealous.Been working on the Doc Savage books for about as long and I'm only about 3/4s.
Got lucky in an online auction a couple years ago and won a lot of about forty of them.
I started reading Doc Savage when I was either 10 or 11. The first one I read was The Submarine Mystery. I was hooked. I’ve only got about 3 of the new wild adventures left to read: Pat Savage: Six Scarlet Scorpions, Doc Savage: Empire of Doom and Doc Savage: Mr. Calamity - unless there’s other newer ones I don’t know about yet.

Found it at a library book sale.
I've only done a couple of the new ones. They were okay.
Curious to see some of the new stories where he crosses paths with other characters.
Doc Savage: The Sinister Shadow & Doc Savage: Empire of Doom both also feature The Shadow. I enjoyed the former, haven’t gotten to the latter yet.
There was a comic book with The Shadow, Doc Savage and The Avenger Justice, Inc.. It wasn’t great, bu tit was entertaining.
Justice, Inc. by Michael E. UslanMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
This started out wonderfully but lost some of it's potential toward the end. It does take some liberties with the origin of The Avenger, as it adapts some of the events originally related in the novel by Paul Ernst (writing as Kenneth Robeson), Justice, Inc., and enfolds both Doc Savage and The Shadow into the mix. Still this was one of Dynamite Entertainment's better publications. A solid read for fans of Doc Savage, The Shadow and The Avenger and pulp-era adventure characters.

Fun team up.
A bit shaky continuity-wise, but so cool you'll forgive it.
Doc/Shadow/Avenger comics are so hit or miss.
I have a few issues from here and there across their publishing history, but not many long runs, as there's a lot of crappy pulp comics out there.

That looks fun.
Always had an idea for a story where Doc was home, when Kong climbed the Empire State building.

Agreed.
I did enjoy the black & white Doc Savage magazine from the 70s. Written by Doug Moench, or at least mostly if memory serves. Collected here Showcase Presents: Doc Savage, Vol. 1

Yep, it’s a lot of fun. Skull Island and I’m afraid to tell you that ... Doc is home when Kong is in NYC, more or less. But most of the book is a flashback about Doc on Skull Island.

Marvel did some good Doc stories.
DC's are pretty dismal
Dynamite has been pretty good.
70's DC Shadow and Avengers is great stuff.
The later stuff...meh.
Now look what you made me go and do! I just started Pat Savage: Six Scarlet Scorpions. HrumpfDoc’s cousin Pat in her first, and likely only, solo novel.

Haven't read any of the Pat novels.
I know Philip Jose Farmer wrote at least one.
Will need to check them out.
Farmer only wrote the one about Doc & the gang set during WWI Escape from Loki. It’s pretty good, but it doesn’t feel like a Doc Savage adventure. The newer ones, by Will Murray writing from outlines and notes from Lester Dent (and in one case from Ryerson Johnson, but I can’t recall which one that one is off the top of my head), have been fun and I’ve enjoyed them. But there is a lot more liberty taken with the science that pushes things into a bit more of the unbelievable. There’s even one that deals with time travel, making Doc Savage almost into ... Doc Who. and it it was entertaining, it really wasn’t anything like a tradition Doc Savage adventure. And while Pat Savage does appear in many of these new Wild Adventure, there’s only this one where see takes center stage. It is set in the late 1930s, and her and Monk Mayfair have some wild escapades in the booming oil fields of Oklahoma.

I read that.
Pretty solid.
Funny, that the best DC Doc Savage comic is them reprinting a marvel comic.
Rick wrote: "Farmer only wrote the one about Doc & the gang set during WWI Escape from Loki. It’s pretty good, but it doesn’t feel like a Doc Savage adventure. It was released through Meteor House press, a small publisher that specializes in PJF books and homages.
Only read about it. Haven't gotten a copy myself.
and yeah, 'Escape from Loki' was not a great book.
Nice that Farmer actually got to write both the real Doc Savage and Tarzan, but neither book is great.
I’d never heard of that one. Looked it up (The Evil in Pemberley House), and it’s part of the Wold Newton Cycle, and not technically about Pat Savage, but Pat Wildman (yes, I know it’s a distinction that only copyright issues are concerned with, but a distinction none the less). There are some aspects of Farmer’s theories and speculations I find fascinating, but over all I’m rather uninterested in the seeming need to ensure everyone in literary fiction is related to everyone else in literary fiction. It’s rather like the Dune prequel novels by Brian Herbert & Kevin Anderson, that trace the history of 10,000 years or more and make the whole entire history of the Duniverse nothing but a petty family squabble between the Harkonnens and the Atreides. It just trivializes the whole series, making it pathetic and pointless. It’s kind of like Clara Oswald in Doctor Who. She comes along, enters the Doctor’s time line and insinuates herself into every single aspect and incarnation of the Doctor, making her even more important in the life of the Doctor than the Doctor themselves. It was infuriating. I can get how River Song could been seen in the same way, except that the longer River appears the less seemingly omnipotent she is revealed to be. Anyway, I think Farmer just took the whole thing too far with his Wold Newton theories.

Yes, it's crazy, convoluted and treats itself way too seriously, but to a pulp and classic literature junkie like myself, it's amazing stuff.
Actually, did a little version of my own, as my mother's maiden name is Drummond, I went looking and have notes for a story that connects Bulldog Drummond, serial hero Ace Drummond and a character from Robert Louis Stephenson's novel Kidnapped.
quite proud of that one.
Fine. Fine. But it’s basically saying that you can’t be “special” unless you’re part of the same family. And, of course, they’re white. So, again, only white people are special. Anyway, Galaxy 4 is being animated. Yay.
Amazon has Galaxy 4 DVD listed for pre-order.I'm going to wait for my copy of Buckaroo Banzai, the 8th Doctor movie novelization and the Evil of the Daleks DVD to show up before I'm trusting amazon with my money.
Rick wrote: "But Amazon doesn’t charge you until it ships."But, of that list, two things are two months past the promised release date.
It's annoying to the point where it is no longer worth it to pre-order for me.
Have something on the shelf and we'll talk.

true, but amazon does not have much good will built up, unlike some other companies I order from, so this just feels like more of the same from them.
Since I was a good and responsible adult and didn't blow my entire tax return at the comic show, and amazon is offering the entire show for only 10 bucks, I am streaming Galaxy 4.Review to follow.

Nice.
Episodes 1-3: this is fun.Animation is a bit clunky. Every running scene reminds me of Scooby-doo and they only had the color version.
Everything else, I love. The chumblies are cute and I want a wind up one.
The Tardis crew is really solid, everyone gets something to do.
Steven and Vikki is my second favorite Hartnell crew.
Story and world building is great. Almost feels like a Star Trek episode.
Really wish these two races would come back.
Tons of potential here.
Looking forward to the grand finale and hopefully we get to see what the Ril look like.
Episode 4: Bit of jumble, but still pretty solid and Star Trek feeling.Animation on the Ril was disappointing. I get there probably isn't much visual reference, but after they did such a great job on the Macra, this was a weak effort.
The final scene for the bad guys was pretty intense for 60's Who.
Really want to see a sequel.
