As soon as I read the afterword, I thought about maybe finding that book and reading it. In
, we got so little background on Bentz and Montoya, so I thought it might be interesting to read more, but I'm not sure I want to read a whole book, especially one that seems to have some low reviews, just to get a couple of tidbits about the past.
Susan wrote: "I would love to know what happened to Montoya's girlfriend. Perhaps we find out in another book?"I figured since this book was so much about Bentz that at least one future book would be about Montoya. Hopefully we'll find out then.
I was also very interested in this afterward and was wondering if we wanted to slot these books into our buddy read. Based on the publication dates the first two books in the Savannah series come next:Hot Blooded (2001)
Cold Blooded (2002)
*The Night Before (2003)
*The Morning After (2004)
Shiver (2006)
Absolute Fear (2007)
Lost Souls (2008)
Malice (2009)
Devious (2011)
*Tell Me (2013)
Never Die Alone (2014)
The Third Grave (expected publication in June 2021)
There are loose ends. We don't know about Peter, Dr. Sam's brother. There must be a story there. The disappearance of Montoya's girlfriend. They didn't find her remains or connect her to the murders. Why did she skip town?
Montoya seems a little immature for a cop. Is he really or is there something he's hiding?
We learned a lot about Rick, but there seems like more is hiding.

I agree! Based on that afterword, it’s clear that the author intended to include those books in the continuity reading order.
If everyone is okay with that, I’ll add them.
I’m uncomfortable reading out of order and will definitely be reading them.

Sharon wrote: "There are loose ends.."Yes, I really want to know more about all of these characters, especially Sam's brother and Montoya's girlfriend. It is like Jackosn drops hints about stories to come in these books to pique the readers' interest.
That’s right! We still don’t know what happened to Peter, along with Montoya’s girlfriend Marta. Hopefully, we will learn soon.
I have to read in order so all fine with me. 😁Lots of unanswered questions as you've all mentioned.
And the big one for me is what happened to the killer from the first book? It is mentioned that he was The Chosen One's apprentice, how did that happen and why did they separate? They didn't find Father John so it is only a matter of time till he resurfaces.
I was shocked when The Chosen One revealed that Father John was his apprentice! What is up with that????
I prefer to read in order, although I do jump sometimes. Mostly it happens accidentally when I receive an Amazon or B&N suggestion.
Thanks for pointing out the afterword! I totally missed that. I'm glad that she will bring some more closure to those loose ends. Plus, it makes me want to read the coming books even more. You girls are after my own heart reading things in order! I'm so glad we are going about things the *right* way. :)
and Sharon, Amazon always makes me so frustrated with their suggestions that are out of order. Audible told me wrong about a series recently, and I didn't realize it until I was halfway through the book. It made my eye twitch.
