It's early 1950s and free India’s first planned city, Chandigarh, is turning into a reality. Incidentally, the futuristic city is coming up on the remains of its prehistoric past - the 5000-year-old Harappan Civilization. A young engineer tasked to complete Le Corbusier’s buildings is drawn to the ancient history buried underneath. People around the protagonist interpret the city’s Harappan connection in different ways. He too begins to imagine as if it has a bearing on his life. But his lofty ideas are rejected and it leaves him disillusioned. He falls for a girl who is researching Harappa and moves abroad. Fifty years later, the city is at the threshold of change and the couple’s ideas are finally acknowledged.
