I started this group for myself because I like the challenges but feel like a failure if I don't complete in the allotted time. It occurred to me that others might feel the same, and I've just started inviting friends. This group will be many challenges extended for years. Join as many or as few as you choose. If there is a different challenge you'd like to see here, just suggest it in the forum.

In order to join a challenge you'll have to create a bookshelf dedicated to that challenge so GR can register it. The same book can be on multiple shelves. Then...just read!

Questions and suggestions are welcome.

Charmer (+ Vibes Only) | 3 comments I love your idea. It'll make me want to complete a book that I might not want to finish.

I'm glad to hear that! I was afraid it sounded a little crazy. After all, you don't need a challenge to start a special shelf. But there's something so satisfying about seeing a challenge chart slowly add up...

At least this way, I know I'm not the only crazy one. Hee hee!

Donna Cummings | 1 comments I've been trying to devote more time to reading this year, and so far so good! I think this will help even more. I saw that Popsugar list on Pinterest--I think--and I'm kind of intrigued by that one. Now I'll just have to figure out how many I think I can really do. :)

TINNGG | 1 comments I could actually do challenges if I didn't have this compulsion to finish every book I start, no matter how little I like it, which leads me to taking a month to read a 200 page harlequin. I'm getting better I think. I actually DNFed a book last week...and purged the rest of the series connected to it.

Now I'm starting to dread poking into the mountain as it's very possible that more books are going to disappoint.

Elizabeth (edowney) I used to have that compulsion too. It's a strange one because it's not as if it's a class assignment or a requirement for my job. This reading gig is supposed to be fun! I DNF'ed a book last week because the subject matter was heading to depressionville and I decided that wasn't a trip I wanted to take even though the writing was good. That was a major step for me in embracing DNFs. Now that I'm a DNFer I feel much freer because often the next book on my nightstand is soo much better and I'm happier for bringing it into my life sooner.
