This was the second attack in two months, Botformin having little to no time to get resources and weaponry, more then 1200 dwarves had fallen in the last year and those numbers were only rising. While the royal family had been advised to stay in the place or go into hiding, yet they weren't going to let their people fall while they watched from a distances. The oldest of three sons, and heir to the Botformin throne, currently fighting along side the second son as well as his brother.
In the palace there was just the same amount of chaos, as soldiers were posted to protect the queen, and youngest son, while the king continued to help plan protection for the city. In the midst, Rosalie was quickly moving through the hallways, having changed out of her inconvenient dress into something more comfortable. At her side was Quinn her guardian, a Hontzal, large bird-like creatures known for their speed in the sky and large bodies.
The women and children had been told to go through that single road, most of them having escaped a week prior to this attack, but a few still remained and they were only able to take what they had to or less. Everyone else was busy fighting an early line of human soldiers, the ground littered in dwarf bodies and a few human ones here and there.
"Your highness," a maid said rushing over, to stop Rosalie,
"What?" her heart was pounding in her chest and her ears were ringing,
"You must go to your mother and remaining older brother," the maid begged,
"No, I'm going to help," "Quinn," as soon as the Hontzal's name was spoken the creature lifted the maid out of the way and the two continued.
Half hour later and Rosalie sat on Quinn's saddle and the two were getting ready to do their part, Rosalie had never been one to sit and let people fight for her.
"Let's go," she urged Quinn, they took out from one of the largest balconies, in her hands she held rocks covered in black liquid and a fire scroll.
They flew over the city and towards the wall, just in range for Rosalie's small effort, saying the enchantment the rocks lit up. While they didn't burn her hand, as soon as she threw it and it hit the ground close to the wall, it exploded.
Rosalie didn't need to worry about the arrows to much, as she continued to light the large rocks and throw them, watching them explode. As they hit one rock would kill a group of about 12, and she had only thrown 5 at that time, so her efforts weren't going very far.
She could see the woman and children running and wanted to warned them that it was a trap, but only she from his height could see it, and that's when Quinn's shrill shriek run out as an arrow hit him in the side not anywhere that would kill him. Yet it forced them to land, and Rosalie jumped down to pull out the arrow, using her muff that covered her lower face to try and keep the blood at bay. They were a bit close to the wall and the battle for her comfort so they needed to finish this quickly and fly past the wall.
Rosalie quickly dabbed at the last bit of blood, that was seeping up of Quinn's side, but once they started flying she knew it would start up again. Jumping up into the saddle, they took up again to the safety of the sky and climbed until they found a draft that let Quinn glide. They were at the height that she could see everything, even troops moving closer and closer towards the palace where her father, mother and youngest older brother would be.
"Quinn lets go lower," she urged.
The Hontzal moved lower to the ground, and they landed in an empty street covered in bodies, most of the dwarves, she cried as she found the bodies of her two oldest brothers side by side. Jumping down from Quinn the two ran over to mourn over the would be future king and second son.
Rosalie could hear yelling from soldiers, and as soon as one stepped into the clearing where she was, Quinn tackled them and tore them to shreds. He ran back to Rosy and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt, lifting her onto the saddle, and nudging her comfortingly. They quickly ran through the streets, Rosalie holding tightly to the Hontzal's feathers.
Quinn turned away from the wall, stopping there path down the street, he began to climb up the walls of some of the standing buildings. They used the roof tops, running was the best way to keep his wound from reopening till it could fully clot, then they would fly.
In the palace, the guards rushed towards the break in and made attempts to fight them off, the queen and only remaining prince hoping that Rosalie was at least safe. Already having gotten word that the older princes had died.
Rosalie was making her way back to the palace, she wasn't sure if this was the best idea, but that was the only place she knew could had anything that would possibly heal Quinn in the shortest amount of time possible.
The queen and prince, along with the king were all moved to one room, as the guards and soldiers of the dwarves did their best to fend the humans off.
Rosalie had seen the fire as soon as they landed on the highest balcony, she quickly jumped off Quinn, telling him to wait as she planned on grabbed what they needed. Her mother had told her that if she had any chance of leaving to do it, and leave them, so she was going to do what she was told for the first time.
Pushing open the door of the healers room, she grabbed what she assumed she would need, that being blankets, medicine and anti-rotting foods, stuffing them into a bag she made her way back to Quinn, hiding from humans as they moved past her in the hallways.
She could smell the smoke, but was at the balcony and in the fresh air before it could cause her serious harm, Quinn had been hiding on the wall using his talons to hold on and keeping his wings close to the stone. He jumped over to her and she quickly set to work with the bandages and healing medicines.
(this got morbid real quick)
Screams of the royal family could be heard, and Rose, could hear them too. Tear dripped down her cheeks and she packed everything up, and climbed onto Quinn's back.
Every route but the sky. That would be the last royal dwarf's escape. Quinn took off, his wound bandaged and healed with enchantments for the time being. He beat his wings till they were high enough that the smoke mostly hid him and his rider, as she held a wet cloth to her mouth and nose.

Botformin City, a besieged city. It has been under attack off and on for 5 years, taking a massive toll on the population, from a once bustling town square to a crater, there is little left of the population. But because it is home to the royal family it is continuously being protected by the people.
