Anna Turk Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel follows the love life and struggles of Tita De La Garza, the youngest daughter in a large family during the Mexican Revolution. Tita's story is told through monthly recipes and homemade medicines. The love of her life, Pedro, is unable to marry Tita due to a family tradition that forces the youngest daughter to remain single and dedicated to her parents for the entirety of her life. Pedro, unable to marry his true love Tita, marries Tita's older sister, Rosaura, in an attempt to remain close with Tita.

Did marrying Tita's sister cause more harm or good? Would Tita and Pedro have been better off just running away together?
