Books for Change discussion

Hi! Welcome to Books for Change! This is a community where we believe that books have the power to influence people to bring a change in the world. Our motive is to help people find books that inspire them and thus bring a constructive change in the world.

The following are our usual activities (click on the link to go to the respective folder and discussion topics):

TOTM : Every month, a social or environmental theme is chosen by poll. That theme is the TOTM (theme of the month). The theme is discussed throughout the month through two discussion topics:
-Discussion: This topic is for general discussion of the theme.
-Your Stories: This topic is for sharing your own experiences related to the TOTM.

BOTM : Every month, we have one or two BOTM(s), which expands to "book(s) of the month". These BOTMs are based on the TOTM. Whatever the theme of the month, that would be the theme for our BOTMs. We discuss the book(s) throughout the month. Members can sign up as discussion leaders if they wish to lead the BOTM discussion for a month. All BOTMs are chosen by poll. Suggestions for the books that would go on the poll are given by members here.

Challenges : We conduct a reading challenge every month. These challenges are based on some important event during the month. Most of the challenges are prompt-based, but we try to have different kinds of challenges too! Sign ups are open throughout the month, so you can join in anytime!

Readathons : In the last week of every month, we conduct a readathon, where you can post your TBR for the week and then try to complete it during the week-long readathon. Sometimes, we might add a little variation to to the usual readathon, but this is what we do usually.

Special Week Discussions : One week of every month is observed as a "special week", where we conduct discussions and polls on a particular topic/theme.

Buddy Reads : Buddy reads are a thing where you can read a book with other group members. You can ask for a buddy for reading a book with you in the "request for buddy reads" topic. If anyone is interested in buddy-reading the book with you, they'll say so and the mods will create a thread for you to discuss the book.

Activism Discussion Topics: We have lots of discussions on various social and environmental issues and activist topics, and we keep adding more and more discussions everyday. If you have an idea for a discussion that isn't there, you can create a thread for the topic on your own or ask a mod to create it. -About You: Tell us various things about yourself, like your hogwarts house, favorite colors, etc.
-Inspiring Figures: To discuss inspiring people who have brought a change in the world.
-Bookish Things: Discussions on various bookish things.
-Other forms of media: Other media apart from books which promote change.
-Games: Various fun games for you to play!
-Spread the Word: Share your blogs, booktube channels, etc.
-Random Fun Stuff :)
