Are you familiar with the authors? What insights are you hoping to gain from the book? What is your past experience with the topic?

Really looking forward to this one. I haven't read much church history lately and I've heard good things about Kreider.

I'm hoping to gain some insights that can help shape our ecclesiology. A friend and I have recently been speaking alot about the nature of the church. He tends to focus heavily on identity (who we are) where I have found I focus on discipleship (what we do).

Shout out to the multiple members of the group who recommended this book.

Eric Palac I’m excited to read this one as well. It’s been on my to be read list for a while. I’ll admit I’m not familiar with the authors work at all.

Genni | 13 comments I am not familiar with the authors but am looking forward to this one.

Rebecca Ray | 21 comments I'm looking forward to this one because I'm kind of obsessed with the early church. We're so far removed from them that it's sometimes hard to picture the church as looking anything like it does now. I'm always looking to build my knowledge base on the early church.

David I am not familiar with him, though I am curious if he is related to the Kreider Dairy Farm people in Lancaster county, as I grew up drinking their milk and eating at their restaurant.

*asked as someone who is consistently asked if I’m related to Milton Hershey.

Kevin Wolz | 13 comments Similar to Caleb, I’ve neglected church history a bit recently, although I usually enjoy it when I do read it, so I’m excited for this book!

Brian Christensen | 2 comments This book was recommended in a book club I was attending in Salem, OR before covid hit. We had gone thru McKnights King Jesus Gospel and were going to tackle this but we had to put off meeting so I read it on my own - shocked at the difference on many levels of the early church compared to many today - how they treated the poor, how someone became a Christian (a 2 year apprenticeship), etc.
