I just want to mention that I read Nerve by this author last month and I really enjoyed it. It was very character-centric and the mystery part didn’t start until a third of the way into the book, but once it did start it was pretty good. It looks like Proof might be a similar pattern. It has gotten alot of good reviews, so I’m looking forward to reading it.
I like how the author creates empathy for the main character, Tony. He seems real, flaws and all. I think some readers might not like the backgound info and the character development that takes place before the mystery part begins. It's really not a thriller, but almost a "cozy" mystery in a way. The characters are the main thing, and the mystery part serves to show more aspects of who they really are.
I am about 30% in and really enjoying it so far. Tony is a great main character and the book is very well written.

Ok, about halfway through this one. And I actually really like it. It's an easy, pleasant read, and I really like Tony, too. This author has me interested in his other books!
