I finished it. I liked this book even more than Nerve. Very well written. I wouldn’t have thought I’d want to read a book about liquor: how it’s made, how it’s shipped, etc.. However the author made it seem interesting, and it had alot of importance to the mystery. I also liked Tony and it was interesting to see him grow as a character throughout the story. He felt real, as did even the lesser characters. I will definitely be reading more books by this author.
That was fun! A solid investigation book with a decent main character and a setting completely foreign to me.
I have liked all the books so far this year, which is great! (I mean, this is no Sidney Sheldon, but Sidney Sheldon is no Jackie Collins so I think we are good.)

From what I've read about the author, he doesn't really write a mystery series with the same main character in every book. He has a different main character in most of his mysteries. (I think he has a run of 2 and then 3 books with the same character throughout that "run".) They all do have something to do with the world of horse racing, though. He's such a good writer! His son has taken over writing horse racing mysteries, now that he's passed away. I'll have to check them out, since my library has his books too.

I really like this one. It was a quiet read, but unlike some that we've read, I actually wanted to go back and finish it. I liked how Tony was all together completely human, with lots of flaws. And I liked how he was able to go beyond what he expected of himself. All in all, a really good book. And now, since it's been recommended that I skip Lightning, I guess I'm all caught up already. lol
