25.6 - Delicious Dee's Task: My New Favorite Comedian

I think its fair to say that for the vast majority of us, the last year dealing with COVID restrictions just sucked. However, I managed to, in one of my nights of useless Facebook scrolling, discover a new comedian who has kept me laughing over the past year – Ben Brainard. So here is a task dedicated to him.

No books with the genre Childrens may be used.

Choose 2 different options and read a book that fits each OR you may read 1 book that fits 2 options that exceeds 500pgs.
Required: State the options.

1. Ben Brainard – Read a book by a single author names Ben or one of the related names: Behind the Name - Ben – the name can be found in any position, but must match exactly.

2. Florida Man – Ben’s stage name is Florida Man and he truly embodies that spirit – Read a book where at least 80% of the book is set in Florida.
Required: If not obvious from the book description, provide supporting evidence.

3. The Table – I discovered Ben through his weekly sketch called The Table – where he portrays the various states in the US and highlights current news. My favorite states that he portrays are (no surprise) Florida (and his bro-mance with Louisiana), California and the rarely sighted Nevada. Read a book where the author's first and last name initials appear in ONE of states: FLORIDA, CALIFORNIA, LOUISIANA or NEVADA.
Required: State the STATE you used.

4. CHAOS KNOWS NO SIDES – is probably my favorite catch-phrase used by Ben during his “The Table” sketches. Read a book with a title of at least three words, where ALL the first letters of the title words can be found in CHAOS KNOWS NO SIDES. Subtitles should be ignored.

5. Guests – Over time, Ben has featured multiple guests as other characters – to include Drew Lynch (CDC), Charlie Berens (Wisconsin), Liz/Mama Loz (Mother Nature). Read a book by a single author whose name is DREW, LYNCH, CHARLIE, LIZ, or ELIZABETH. The name can be found in any position, but must match exactly.

Optional: take a break and catch up on some of his videos - Ben Brainard - YouTube (but be careful, you might fall into a rabbit hole)

yes because Ben is a shortened form

Bea Would a pen name be acceptable?

Benjamin Black is the pen name for John Banville. Both names are found on the GR entry for Christine Falls.

Joanna (walker) | 433 comments For Option 3, is it just first and last name initials or do middle initials also have to be found in the target state?

only first/last (unless the task states otherwise - which this one doesn't)

Bea - double checking with Mods- pretty sure you are good - my only concern is that Benjamin Black isn't listed as a pseudonym on GR - so its kind of confusing based on the book entry

Bea - you're good to go

The default rule is that all initials are required unless the task specifies otherwise. If your intent is just first and last, you need to say that.

Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 1261 comments How do you feel about titles like Composting Inside & Out? It works for option 4 only if the '&' counts as an 'A' or can be ignored.

All letters must be included and & does not work for A - sorry

No problem, I've got other options.
