So excited to be reading with you all! I'm currently reading More than Just a Pretty Face but I also am reading The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre on the side which is an LGBTQ+ book :)
Woo hoo! I'm excited to read with you all! I'm not sure how many books I'll be able to read, but I do have 2 books lined up already. :)

Awesome! let's get it everyone!

Since I just got it from the library, my first book will probably be Birthday. I haven't figured out which prompt it will fit, but I'll figure it out. :)
As people start reading books for this challenge, I'd be interested in any suggestions that fit the prompts!

That's the one by Meredith Russo right? I think the transgender main character prompt will fit it :)

Ooh yes! I'm always on the look out for some great queer YA too!

I actually ended up starting The Midnight Lie today, and so far, it's pretty interesting.
Super excited for pride stuff this month, especially the readathon! :)) Also where should we post when we've read a book?
Zoe, there is a thread in this readathon section that gives you instructions for posting your finished books. :)

Ahh I've heard negative things about the author too. I heard about a lot of people cancelling them but I don't know why specifically

Ooh nice! I haven't read that one but I want to!

Oooh, my library just got a copy of Ace of Spades! I am so looking forward to reading it! It sounds really interesting!
Sylvs (NOVELty Reads) wrote: "Ahh I've heard negative things about the author too. The last report I could find on it all was in 2019, so I'm not sure what has become of it. But my friend was a similarly abusive relationship, so I'm hesitant to start the book, kwim?

Ooh yikes!! I just read that article you sent me and whoa! I didn't even know that Meredith was like that at all! I had her books on my TBR since forever like If I Was Your Girl and Birthday. I don't know if I should read them or if I should be more hesitant...

I know it's all about your comfort level, but while I have other books to read, I might postpone making the decision, lol.

I think I might too. I have other books on my TBR and might read those instead :)

Oooh, I will have to add that book to my list, although the wait is quite a long time from my library (4-6 weeks). still, it sounds interesting!

Same! I hate library queues! I now have to wait for 3 people to finish this audiobook that I was listening to before I can borrow it again since it expired on me when I had only 1 part left to go!

A Song Below Water by Bethany C Morrow. I was on Part 7 (there are 9 parts but the last part usually is just acknowledgements and authors notes and things like that so I don't count it) and I was almost up to the last part but then it automatically returned the audiobook back to the library. You can't renew it *cries*

I highly recommend Gender Queer, a graphic novel memoir by the author about eir journey into understanding eir gender identity as non-binary.

Ooh nice! I need to check that one out! I'm currently reading The Lucky List. It's a girl/girl romance and so far I'm enjoying it!

I couldn't figure out how to make this fit for any of the prompts, but I did just read one of the later Mary Russell Books (Island of the Mad) and it takes place in Venice during Cole Porter's time and there are many gay, lesbian, fluid characters, including Cole Porter and his wife (they married for convenience but were great friends). It was something I wasn't aware of before I read this book.

Ahhhh I have no idea which one it fits either! I haven't even heard of this book until just seconds ago 😅

I love all the Mary Russell books, but this is the first time I've read this particular one and it was such a great one for this month!
Sylvs (NOVELty Reads) wrote: "Ahhhh I have no idea which one it fits either! I haven't even heard of this book until just seconds ago 😅"Okay, I just figured out which prompt it could be used for. I'm going to use it for Insta-Worthy which is extra fitting since the main woman Mary and Holmes are trying to help is a Lesbian in the Victorian era. But I do love the cover!

Nice! I still need to actually read an LGBTQ+ book. I haven't used any of the prompts yet but I'm reading a girl/girl romance so hopefully I'll start using them soon!!

I'm reading The Nature of Witches as an ARC right now and the main character, a powerful witch, is very clearly bisexual, but it's not classified as an LGTBQ+ book, perhaps because it's a relatively new book and it's not a major part of the plot? Can it be used as a prompt?

Yup! Absolutely! Usually if the book has been released I'll say that if it's classified under LGBTQ+ under it's shelves on Goodreads then it's valid but if it's an ARC and it hasn't been classified yet then you can use the prompts :)

I just started Carry the Ocean and wow, I would keep on reading if I didn't have to go to sleep (it's 1:37 am right now, lol). It's definitely LGBTQ+ but it's also mental health/disability. I'm learning a lot from it so far and I really like the two main characters!

Oh my goodness, Carry the Ocean is absolutely beautiful! I loved it so much! I am about to buy the second book (because my library doesn't have it) because I love Jeremey and Emmett so much! <3

I am so behind on my reviews this month so will be updating over the next few days. I think I'm ticking off for Gravity. Does anyone have any villainous recs?

No worries! A Darker Shade of Magic has an epic villain and so does Illuminae, A Curse So Dark and Lonely and Red Queen :)

Anyone have suggestions for Tragic Ending or Everyone's Gay? If I can do those two, I can get the Perfect category!

Romeo and Juliet maybe or Mockingjay for Tragic Ending?
