I already finished this one a month ago for another book club... my full review here.

In a nutshell, I just don't think Morrison's style is for me. While I appreciated The Bluest Eye, I thought this one was extremely over-the-top in how literary it was, which made it hard for me to keep reading. Several times I wanted to just put the book down and DNF, but I persevered. I appreciate the themes and Morrison's skill at writing, but her execution of this book did not make it very palatable.

Oh wow. My first Morrison and I love this. I'm only around 20% in but the writing is absolutely beautiful.
