Aww we’re buddies. Why do I feel like we should peer pressure others to join us LoL!!
I’ve acquired the book and will start if I get some downtime again today.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through volume 1. Its pretty good so far, and I like seeing more of Ainz's personality
I started today after finishing my last book. I am on Chapter 2 pt 4. So 80 pages, about 1/3rd in. Momonga is still figuring things out. He just summoned the fire elemental for the twins to fight.
Switching perspective to Gazef was a little jarring at first but it is neat to see things from his perspective. I watched the first season for our group watch so I kind of know where things are going but I’m still enjoying it.
I’m also trying out Alexa’s TTS (text-to-speech) and it’s better than the built in iOS version so I’ll use that off an on if I have stuff to do but I’ll mainly read.

I'm finding this easier to follow than the anime, but I think thats due to my hearing being really bad.
Glad you are enjoying it Greg! I'm in part 4 of chapter 4, hopefully I'll finish today!

So I've finished Volume 1. Over all I liked it. And you are absolutely correct when you say that you get a lot more depth to the characters and that the plot is a lot less confusing because of it.
However I thought the first half of this volume was pretty dull. Up until they went to the village to help save them it was slow though I get that they needed that time to introduce the characters.
I'm not going to be jumping into Volume 2 anytime soon. Mainly because I'm behind on a few other Light Novel series (Goblin Slayer and Slayer).
I'm still glad I read it and it made for a good first Buddy Read for the group.
Favorite Character is probably Albedo. But I'm an unabashed ecchi so I guess there's no surprises there.

My favarite character has not shown up yet :) I do agree, the first bit is a little slow, but it shows a lot of Ainz's thought process.
Princess Renner is my favorite so far at least. Its funny cause my friend and his wife (Ainz and Albedo, they are hilarious to watch when they get started) are both scared of her LOL
This is my first Overlord light novel, yes, but I'd watched up to about halfway through season 3 with my friends mentioned above
Nice. I’ll probably watch the later seasons before jumping back in? What about you? Jumping into volume 2?
I will at some point, but for now I am reading David Copperfield and thinking about starting Eldest. I may try and re watch the anime at some point as well.
I read Eragon when I was in middle school and half of Eldest and then got stalled out, so trying again this year!
