UPDATED 06/04/2021Hey everyone!
The mods have been discussing, and we decided to make a few minor changes to the KEEP YOUR PRIDE READ-A-THON.
First of all, the Readathon end date has been moved up to the 30th, as we wanted to give you guys more time to read as much as you can before the conclusion of the event.
Second, the Readathon will no longer have teams, as we don't have quite enough members yet to ensure that each team has an adequate number of people.
Third, instead of reading at least 2-3 book from the Pride List, you now have to read at least 1. You get points for every 50 pages you read, as well as bonus points for every 50 pages of another LGBTQIA+ book that is NOT on the Pride List.
Finally, as there are no longer any teams, the winners will be the 3 players with the highest total points.
Point System:
1 point = 50 pages
2 points = 100 pages
3 points = 150 pages
And so forth (basically you just get a point for every 50 pages you read)
Bonus Point System:
1 points: 50 pages of a LGBTQIA+ book NOT on the Pride List
2 points: 100 pages of a LGBTQIA+ book NOT on the Pride List
3 points: 150 pages of a LGBTQIA+ book NOT on the Pride List
And so on.
THE 3 WINNERS WILL EARN A GROUP SHOUTOUT AND A SHORT-TERM MOD ROLE. IF BY THE END OF THEIR MOD TERM WE FEEL WE WANT TO WELCOME ONE OF THE WINNERS INTO A FULL-TIME POSITION, IT WILL BE WITH THEIR PERMISSION, OF COURSE! (If the winning members don’t want to become a short-term mod, please notify any of mods. We will be in constant discussion.)
Pride List:
- Heartstopper by Alice Oseman
- We Are Okay by Nina LaCour
- They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
- Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
- Loveless by Alice Oseman
- Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
- What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli
*If you have any questions, please post a comment or message one of the mods.
Enjoy and keep reading!

The mods have been discussing some challenges we want to do with you, and we came up with this. As you probably know, June is Pride Month, so we want to acknowledge all the members of the lgbtq+ community. With that said, we have put together this challenge to support the community and books that support it!
Here’s how the read-a-thon will work: for all who want to participate, we will divide you up into teams. The number of teams will depend on all those who decide to participate. Your team will have to read at least 2-3 books from our Pride List below. The more the better! You can also read other books, but 2-3 from the list is REQUIRED. Everyone in the group does not have to read 2-3. Just 2-3 people in the group. But if everyone wants to, great!
Your team will have a topic inside this folder to talk about what you are reading and to log points. Yes, I said points. Below you will also find the point system. At the end of the two weeks you have to read (June 14-28), the mods will calculate the points totaled, and we will determine the winning team (the team with the most logged points). Now, what will the winning team earn for all their hard work and support? THEY WILL EARN A GROUP SHOUTOUT AND A SHORT-TERM MOD ROLE. IF BY THE END OF THEIR MOD TERM WE FEEL WE WANT TO WELCOME ANY OF THE MODS INTO A FULL-TIME POSITION, THEY WILL BE WITH THEIR PERMISSION, OF COURSE! (If any of the winning members don’t want to become a short-term mod, please notify any of mods. We will be in constant discussion.)
If you have any questions about this read-a-thon, post below or PM one of the mods! And if you’d be interested in participating, post down below as well!
