Sorry for the delayed response: The best introduction to technical analysis for stocks might be in my new book - Foresight Investing: A Complete Guide to Finding Your Next Great Trade.You can use the same type of analysis for derivative markets - futures, options, etc.... by charting the underlying asset.
I also recommend John Murphy's book: Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications. This is considered the "bible" of technical analysis.

Technical charts are fun and interesting and useful about half the time. Meaning, they are not. One of the most popular are moving averages, but different time frames tell different stories and they are self-fulfilling. Prices revert to the mean because means revert to the latest prices.
