Oh wow, what a read! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a wonderful story, I couldn't put it down. The writing flowed so easily yet it was a very intricately laced storyline. There is a lot packed into this book and I particularly liked sisterhood and sometimes lack of which also carried across cousins.
Thought provoking views on colour, race, belonging, it all spoke to me in a new way.
I will absolutely be telling everyone I know to read this book I think it's fantastic and makes you question how important is your identity? How do people treat you because of that? How different would the answer be if people viewed you for only your skin colour?
This book is the only book I've read so far the the Women's Prize for Fiction but I am rooting for it, it was bloody brilliant. Can't wait to read more from the shortlist and Brit Bennett!

I have read this book twice for 2 separate book clubs. I also read Bennett's The Mothers, which was really good (not as good). The characters and world drew you in. I felt she did a brillant job of covering so many themes without feeling like she was reaching as a writer. To your question, I think it depends on how the society you are in sees color and what value they place upon it. It's interesting the difference in how color is view in the time of the twins father vs. thier children.

Will you be joining us this month and reading along?
Have you read this book before? If so do you think it should win the WPfF?
