Hi everyone,

While we catch up with our reading during Summer, we are also watching some great movies, T.V. shows etc.

Like the books I am reading, I am turning the clock back and re-watching movies from the past. Bret Easton Ellis books have found their way into my "to re-read" pile. I decided to re-read that book after finding the movie version of 1987 Less Than Zero on T.V. late at night.

While critics were mixed on the reviews, it did bring many to read the 1985 novel. The story of a college student coming home during the holidays and re-connecting with friends who have embraced the wild activities of L.A. drugs, parties etc. Student tries to help his friends calm their out of control behaviors and save them from themselves.

I had always hoped for a book sequel or prequel from Bret Easton Ellis. Always curious as to the fate of the characters.

Share with us the movies you are watching? recommend?

Have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

-Donna

Colton CW (neuroticcat) | 71 comments Hi Donna,

Thank you for the recommendation. I have never read Bret Easton Ellis. And as far as I know the only movie adaptation I've seen is American Psycho. His books have always been recommended to me but for some reason I've just never read him.

As far as movies go, the last really good movie I saw was The Mitchells vs. The Machines (on Netflix). It's an animated movie, and while it doesn't quite have the emotional impact of a Disney/Pixar movie, it was loads of fun and very funny.

I also recently watched the new Bo Burnham comedy special on Netflix called Inside. It was super good. And it was so unique, I've never seen anything like it. It's a very different type of comedy but I recommend it just for how unbelievably unique it was.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

Hi Colton,

Yes, he did write American Psycho as well. Very popular author in the 80s. He has been consistently writing other books, short stories through the years. It's amazing how time goes by so fast and it seemed liked yesterday when I was reading these books.

I will definitely lookout for The Mitchells vs. The Machines. I enjoy animation and it's nice to find something that makes you laugh. Speaking of comedy, I was watching old repeats of Comedy Relief with Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg. They were so funny together. It was a nice event raising money to help the homeless and people in need. Cheers to laughter. We need more of that.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

-Donna
