Our June book is the shortlisted novel How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House by Cherie Jones.

Have you read this one already? Initial thoughts, hopes, expectations?

I listened to the audio version of this by audible and really enjoyed it, it’s a tough listen with some really dark sections but it was believable and the characters seemed very real. I can certainly see why this made the shortlist.

Carol, I listened to this one on audio a couple of months ago too. It was definitely powerful. I've read quite a few works of African fiction in the past few months. I like how we are seeing more and more books from African authors gaining recognition.
