The Dresden Files has ELEVEN books out so far with the 12th due to be released in April of 2010. I'm not caught up with all 11 yet but wanted to be sure that people could discuss the series as a whole without worrying about spoilers for those of us who are behind.

Melodie (melodieco) I LOVE the Dresden Files after a rocky start with STORM FRONT!! I love Bob & Mister & Mouse & Michael! And, of course, Thomas!! I could definitely spend time with Thomas! GRAVE PERIL is one of my favorites and also liked the one that involved the porn movie industry. Can't remember the title at the moment. I stay current on this series and am eagerly awaiting the next one come April. Even Butcher's Dresden short stories are good. I've read all of them and they never fail to be some of the best in any anthology they appear in. In fact, the one in STRANGE BREW was one of the only ones in that anthology that I DID like!

Jessica | 66 comments I cannot possibly say enoughg ood things about these books. Storm Front is the book that got me reading urban fantasy! It was a random buy because of the back cover blurb with the ad for Harry's business. I knew it would be either amazing or supremely cheesy. Now I can hardly wait to get my hands on the books when they come out, and devour them the moment the hit my hands.

I'm not real pleased with the direction he's taking Thomas, but I think for better or worse it was necessary to make the character not stagnate. I didn't care for what happened with Susan either, but I think it was necessary. Bob has to be my favorite though. 'Dirty old man' trapped in a skull LOL

Truly I hope that he doesn't get Harry & Murphy together. I think the dynamics would be thrown really badly if he does.

Any speculation on who the sword is going to go to? I"m thinking Justine!

Elvia (elvb) The Dresden Series is my favorite among the MANY I read. It may have something to do with the fact that this series turned me on to paranormal and urban fantasy.
I honestly can't pick a favorite because I end up loving every new one that comes out.
Michael is a great character. His wife is fantastic. I hope they bring her in to future books. I'd love to know more about her. Also LOVE Thomas. His short story was fantastic! I liked that it was all behind Dresdens back. lol

Paula (pauldajo) Harry needs to get more sleep! I get nervous when he hasn't slept in a day or two 'cause I know that something bad is going to happen. Harry always does remarkable acts when he isn't at his best, just think what he'd do rested. Of course, I realize that Jim Butcher uses Harry's mental state to create tension and it works on me!

message 6: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Jim Butcher tweeted recently: "my business is making Harry Dresden suffer. AND BUSINESS IS GOOOOOOOD!"
I believe he's doing a very good job! lol

Paula (pauldajo) It occurred to me this morning, looking at my messy kitchen, that Harry Dresden has it so easy in the house cleaning area. He has magical beings cleaning up his home. I hope Harry appreciates it and doesn't irritate the ones responsible for his 'ready for company abode'!

Teresa (teresainohio) I just read Storm front and I am hooked on this series. I am just starting to read genres like this and this is a great introduction. I LOVE bob, he is so funny

Kim (mrsnesbitt) | 77 comments I love the Dresden books and own all of them. I have addicted no less than 3 people to them this year alone. If you like Butcher, try Patricia Briggs, Karen Marie Moning, and Vikki Pettersson.

Was anyone else rocked by all the... well, changes in Changes?

I think it was my favorite book so far. I couldn't read fast enough. I loved the revelation in the first chapter and wonder how long Jim Butcher has been planning that one out.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I'm stuck about 2 or 3 chapters into book 3. Eventually I'll get back to the series as I loved the first two. I just didn't like how this book opened... all action immediately and a bit strange at that (being on the other plane, etc.).

message 12: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I preordered the paperback version of Changes. I should get it in March of 2011. I know the highlights of the book. I forced some interesting facts out of a friend of mine.

I am SO glad I didn't describe just what the revelation is in Changes. There are several in that book but one really dropped my jaw. I would've hated to ruin it for you... sometimes vague is good

message 14: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Shanon, your revelation may upset other people, but not me. I have no problem knowing the milestones in a book. In fact I like knowing what's about to happen. A good book is more than 'Wow' moments. What is important to me is the interplay between characters and spoilers don't usually cover the little things I like to know. However, I do realize that I am in the minority on this subject and don't want to irritate anyone by spilling the beans. Your vagueness is good!
