message 6: by Michael (new)

Michael Dennis | 46 comments Hello I'm Mike. I did Katie's first half of 20th Century readathon in May but haven't done a Jane Austen challenge before. I'm a bit behind as I've only read Pride & Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion, so this is a good opportunity to read a bit more. With the three I've read, any suggestions for my fourth foray into her books?

message 7: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lavelle | 9 comments Hello there, I’m Amanda. I’ve done Jane Austen in July since it’s creation and I’m looking forward to joining in again. I think the only thing I’ve got left of Jane Austen’s writing that I haven’t yet read completely are her letters -so I think that will be on the agenda this year xx

message 8: by Lex (new)

message 12: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie (bonnie_poole) | 37 comments Hello, I’m Bonnie and I’m looking forward to Jane Austen July! I participated the Readathon in prior years too. I like that each year we get the chance to read her books again and discover more details we may have missed in the past. I also like reading about her time in history and reading books by contemporary authors of her time. I always hope to discover authors and books that I haven’t known about before, it’s like a treasure hunt. The reimagined stories are fun too. I’ve read The Other Bennett Sister and The Jane Austen Society and liked them both.

I have a Goodreads bookshelf for the Jane Austen July Readathon and would love to have more Goodreads friends who enjoy the classics too. Thank you to Katie, Marissa and Claudia for leading the challenge. I look forward to hearing what what everyone is reading and their thoughts. Happy Jane Austen July everyone!

About 15 years ago a friend persuaded me to read Pride and Prejudice because I reminded her of Jane Bennet. I read it out of curiosity and now I'm so thankful for that introduction to Austen's work because all of her novels are such incredible gems!
