🔵Since today is #worldoceansday, 🌎 I thought I’d share some information about the Inca goddess of the seas: Mama Cocha. The Incas lived in some very hostile places. Those living in coastal areas often prayed to Mama Cocha to keep them safe from things like tidal waves and to ensure they caught lots of fish.🐟🐟

But, worshipping this goddess wasn’t just for survival. The Incas viewed all rivers, streams, lakes and the sea as sacred, because water is essential for life. If we all thought of water as holy, I’m sure the oceans would be better taken care of! 🔵

I'd love to hear from you all! Have you heard of Mama Cocha? Do you know of another Latin American water deity?
