Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ ... may still be a couple of days away.

I was in The Tron (Hamilton) for the weekend - & we bought a new computer. We were told it would all be here Tuesday (yesterday) So far just the screen has arrived. 👿 I'm going to give it a bit longer for the morning couriers, then will phone.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ OK, new computer all installed - it is so big & so pretty!

So I am all ready to call for nominations for our August read.

Please no books that we have read in 2020 or this year. & no books that we have already read as a group three times, as there are a few we have only read once.

Critterbee compiled this list which should help.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

& here is the list of titles we have read this year

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I'll close nominations at five - more than that then the vote is too fragmented

I will start with The Quiet Gentleman (last read 2018)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I see we’ve read The Foundling only twice, the last time in 2018, so I’ll nominate that.

Barb in Maryland | 817 comments I nominate Detection Unlimited.
I don't believe I've ever read it, nor does it look like this group has ever read it.
I say that makes it a 'should read soonest' title.

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Just doing a survey not nominating here, it looks as if The Corinthian, Sprig Muslin, and Friday’s Child are among the less-read books.

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I nominated The Foundling some minutes ago but it looks as if my nomination failed to post.

Abigail--it's there as message #3. I guess the system was taking a nap when first you posted.

Yes, Detection Unlimited has never been a group read! :)

So far;

The Quiet Gentleman
The Foundling (both last read 2018)
Detection Unlimited (never read as a group)
Powder & Patch/The Transformation of Philip Jettan (only read once 2016)
Sprig Muslin (last read 2019)
The Convenient Marriage (only read once 2017)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Goodreads’s functionality just gets better and better, doesn’t it!

QNPoohBear | 1640 comments I'll add another nomination for Detection Unlimited

message 11: by Critterbee❇ (last edited Jun 18, 2021 11:42AM) (new)

Critterbee❇ (critterbee) | 2786 comments It has been a while since we read Powder and Patch / (The Transformation of Philip Jettan) so I will nominate that one.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Room for one more!

But four is plenty so I will close nominations Monday my time, Sunday for most of you!

message 13: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 1741 comments I would love to read Spring Muslin with the group. It's been awhile and I think the scenes at the end are among Heyer's most entertaining for sheer, character-driven humor.
but I'll read whatever wins!

Susan in Perthshire (susanageofaquarius) | 1448 comments I nominate 'A Convenient Marriage'.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ that is six now, so nominations are closed.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & the poll is up!

https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/1...

It should also be on the home page. I'm letting the poll run slightly longer than usual as some members are not receiving notifications

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & just a reminder - the poll will be closing fairly soon! :)

message 18: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 1741 comments I see it is tied.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Jackie wrote: "I see it is tied."

If it remains tied we will read both! :)

- one in Aug, one in September.

message 21: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 1741 comments that would be a win-win!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Jackie wrote: "that would be a win-win!"

They are good titles!

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4147 comments Sounds like a good plan!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & The Quiet Gentleman is our winner - the read will start the 1st of August. :)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & Critterbee & I have had a chat - would everyone be ok with us making Detection Unlimited our September read? It lead most of the time & we have never read it as a group. Plus many people on GR aren't getting their notifications atm, which makes doing polls a bit of a hassle.

This decision will be based on consensus. :)

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4147 comments Oh, yes, please! I actually own a used paperback, but have never read it…😐

Barb in Maryland | 817 comments I'm all in for Detection Unlimited as the Sept. read!

I own this edition Detection Unlimited (Inspector Hemingway #4) by Georgette Heyer , but have been saving it for a group read.
