What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I remember that the first book starts with him carrying stuff to his job, and he was using a fire poker to pretend like he was a knight, when a shadow passed overhead, and he later saw all the crops of his village had been burned. he volunteered to travel to the king and request help, who i think gave him a sword and sent him to kill the dragon. along the way he met a girl (name started with an E, mightve had a wolf with her). im pretty sure she used a bow. they went and fought the dragon, and i dont think they killed it, but freed it from the control of some evil guy (hes a recurring baddie i think). the second book had them sailing out to sea to fight a sea serpent, pretty sure the third was againt a giant, dont remember the rest but i remember that each time new ones dropped, theyd be released in groups of 6. it was a huge series for me as a kid and i just wanted to find out what they were called so i could maybe revisit them. the series was set in a medieval fantasy, i dont remember when they were written but i dont believe they were too old. i read them in maybe the late 2000s. dont remember a thing about the author but i wanna say they were published by either a penguin or an apple publishing co. (not the tech apple company). thats all i got off the top of my head right now.
