The book opens with a busy (and wealthy) mother of three children. Two tween-aged girls and a much younger baby son. Without giving any spoilers, this mother faces impossible decisions caused by actions decades in the past and fully out of her control.

I love the parallel mother/daughter tableaux presented in the book - contrasting how women are treated differently based on family wealth and position.

Lots and lots of twists and unexpected events, and I really didn't see the last twist coming.

This is my favorite kind of beach read - brand new book by a favorite author, page turning story, twists and turns with a resolution I didn't see coming.
