What's your mission? Why do you write?

This is a great reflection CH. I write because I believe that inscribing my legacy is an important part of my purpose. I want to leave something for the people who love me to remember me by and I want to encourage others to do the same.

Entertain, educate, and evangelize.About halfway through writing my first book I came up with that mission statement and it fit perfectly. I always loved making people laugh telling stories or dad jokes. I also wanted to share more about culture and context of the Bible to people who may have only read it and not known certain details. Lastly, I wanted to evangelize because this is my ministry. If I can bring one person closer to Christ, or inspire people to believe for the first time, then I’ve done my job. I would be abundantly thankful to God for giving me this mission.
But first I have to sell more of the book series! Lol

My mission is to write and use the gift that God has given me, for His glory. People need hope and encouragement, I pray that through the words that the Lord gives me, readers will have a desire to seek the Lord for themselves.

I often found it discouraging and grieving to know that there were millions of people around the world who would die without knowing Jesus Christ, and would go to Hell. It also grieved me to know that I wouldn't be able to tell the Gospel to most of those people.So...that was one reason why I started writing books.
While I may never be able to meet and share the Gospel with someone who lives in Alaska, a book I wrote could. Someone in Alaska could see my book online, read it, and then hear the Gospel.
Also, while many people may never want to walk into a church building, they may want to read a fatasy book. So, I wrote a fantasy book with the Gospel clearly written in it.
Also, I could die tomorrow and then that would be the end of my ministry. However, a book with the Gospel written in it might last longer than me, and could continue to get the Gospel to people even after I'm gone one day.

For me, I want to glorify God by writing stories that are good enough to make you miss your bedtime. My personal imprint is Doorway Press. The mission statement of Doorway Press pertaining to fiction follows:
It is the mission of Doorway Press to publish well-written, exciting tales that captivate the reader on the strength of the story and characters alone. If you find a Doorway Press book hard to put down, we’ve done our job.
Along the way, we also want to provoke questions in the reader’s mind about life, death, meaning, purpose, faith, and postmodern myths of Western society without bogging the story down in philosophical baggage. If you find yourself taking a second look at your most cherished beliefs after reading a Doorway Press story, we’ve done our job.
What drives your writing?
Blessings,
CH Cobb
