Its random but a song that reminds me of dark haired morally grey character is "Rasputin by Boney M." because the lyrics go " He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear"
And I hear it as : Author : He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
Bookworms: But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
Its random but it works for me

Ellen (elleneli) | 34 comments One song that really screams enemies to lovers is "true love by P!NK". Like the whole lyrics is just perfect for that trope.
some examples from the text:
"You're an asshole but I love you"
or
"But I hate you, I really hate you, so much I think it must be true love"
:))

carmela | 100 comments Same with the Rasputin point! Always the tall dark-haired morally gray character 😂 But personally Trouble by Valerie Broussard reminds me of Six of Crows. I’m quite sure the fandom just adopted it as their theme song.

No Body No crime by Taylor swift just gives me the vibe of this murder mystery book about a vindictive young unassuming woman who straight up murders this cheating dude and it turns into a cat and mouse chase of whodunit

You belong with me by Taylor Swift is literally the song form of most of the cliche best friend to lovers trope books.

I love that song but it reminds me of my least favorite cliche which is -
the main character having a one sided love for their best friend who would literally date anyone but the mc. The best friend is popular and so many people have crush on them. They think have this weird romantic tension with the mc which they brush off as platonic love. They would also unintentionally hurt the mc by talking about their relationship ( with someone who is coincidentally threatened and jealous of mc). In the end, the main love interest realizes mc is their ‘one true love’
Bonus points if there is a second love interest appears who is nice and likes the mc but his only contribution to the plot is making the main love interest jealous.

I HATE this cliche and you belong with me reminds me so much of this.

uhhhhh i’m sorry to inform you but as far as i know… that book doesn’t exist xD i’m just saying that the song gives off that vibe, like if it was a book it’ll have this sort of murder mystery vibe… so yeah i don’t have a title of a book to give you 😭 but maybe someone else might’ve read a book that has a similar storyline ? (if you do please reply to this… i wanna read it too xD)

message 23: by Jods (new)

Jods (jodiee) | 10 comments okay so, we all know Eleanor and Park, cheesy but very sad YA love story. and we all know about the racial stereotypes that appear through the novel. besides the fact that the book heavily projects racist ideologies on the main character Park, and his asian family, the book is about falling in love for this first time. my fave artists girl in red and beabadoobee wrote a song called, funnily enough, eleanor and park, based off the book, and it’s such a beautiful song, to accompany a really good YA romance, however the racism in the book will never be excused!

message 24: by Desiree (new)

Desiree (witnesstomurder) i played Transparent Soul by Willow on repeat while reading Gideon The Ninth!! the song fits Gideon & Harrow’s vibes so well for some reason.

also, Enemy by Oliver Tree is the perfect song for Jamie and Charlotte’s relationship in A Study in Charlotte :)

the night we met by lord huron is my absolute favourite song to listen to when i know that a character death is coming

Hello !
Can somebody recommend me bookish songs which are like very upbeat yet kind of angst in a way ? Something I can listen to while running and imagining myself as a book character.

Kya (betelgeuse321) Shadow of Intents- From Ruin... We Rise, the intro to that song reminds me of the book I'm writing.

message 33: by Truth (new)

Truth (truth_) | 215 comments Helen of Troy by Lorde really reminds me of Trials of Apollo because of the lyrics
"I don't wanna get lost, I wanna worship the sun"
and I remember that Apollo said something about Piper being like Helen of Troy or something
"this whole time I've been playin it coy, the city's falling for me like I'm Helen of Troy"
