In my late teens, I read a book set in an asylum. It spoke about force feeding and ECT and convincing the mc she was sick when she wasn't

I think it was a 90s or mid 2000s publication. I read it in 2015 or 2016

a follow up detail. when she was forcefed, it was food through a funnel.

Who put the girl in the asylum? Where is her home? Is her family rich?

Those details I do not remember. Though i think it was a psychiatrist who had her institutionalized. Oh and I remember it spoke about her dad in the middle of the book. It also detailed her dreams around that part of the book too.
