SuperKimbit | 59 comments hey. I wanted to write this before I forget but because I'm on my phone I'm not sure how to hyperlink.

Thirsty Mermaids reminded me of Rat Queens! I really enjoyed the first couple of them anyway.

No worries! I don't think the mobile app allows all the same formatting & linking that the desktop browser version does.

I've read the first three volumes of Rat Queens (Sass & Sorcery, The Far Reaching Tentacles of N'rygoth, & Demons), so I'll pay attention to see if I think they're similar, too. I didn't love Rat Queens, but I rated #3 better than #1 & #2, so that's something.

I remember really enjoyed the first 3 but then it started getting a bit too weird. The art style changed constantly after I think the first 2 which is distracting as well.

I think the shenanigans and girl power is what makes me compare the two but Thirsty Mermaids is better I think. I think it helps a TON that Thirsty Mermaids is written by a woman, writing about women. Rats Queens is written by man.

I suppose in the same vein, Thirsty Mermaids is a lot like Lumberjanes, Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy for similar reasons. More adult of course ;)

I really like Lumberjanes! And yes, I think the male authorship of Rat Queens is part of what turns me off, too.

Heidi (missheidi) | 9 comments I only have one book ahead of this on my pile, so I'll get to it in a couple days (finally!)

SuperKimbit | 59 comments I know the feeling of the endless TBR pile lol! I hope you enjoy it!
