This was a great read that also had important and timely themes including systemic racism, classism, and homophobia. It's been described as Gossip Girl meets Get Out and I think that's a great fit. The characters and their relationships are well developed and (mostly) believable. I felt like it wrapped up a little too quickly and while I think it will likely be a popular read that is well written, I'm not sure if it's Printz worthy. Would love to hear others' opinions though.
This book is never going to be checked in at my library. Thrillers like this are crazy popular right now, and this one is quite well done. Sadly I think Brittin is right about the ending.
To me, this was too derivative of Gossip Girl for me to take it seriously as a Printz contender. However, the language and characters feel very of the moment, and the teens at my library are loving it.
