SOLVED. Middle School/ Teen book from 2005-2009 ish about 1 boy and 1 girl who are friends. The girl lives in an old minivan and I believe the boy is new in town. They also hunt for worms at night to sell and make money. [s]

There are a few more notable scenes that I remember, namely that there was a flea market aspect to the story, and that fiesta ware was a big deal to one of the members of the duo. I also think that the girl had an unknown parent and a picture of that parent that she cherished, but at some point in the book they discover that the picture is a stock photo that is sold in frames at the flea market. At some point they also paint the windows to the van to make it more homey. I think that the girl also possibly was pretending to be a fortune teller for other local kids, but that might be a mashed up storyline from another book.
