I was surprised. Although there were hints that something was going on with Joy and Roman. She is still a mystery to me. I'm looking forward to learning more about her.
Yes, I was surprised. It wasn't a physical affair, but definitely an emotional one and instigated by Joy. Everything we have learned previously about Joy makes her sound like the perfect woman to be first lady, but as we learn more about her, she seems less and less perfect. I assume we will learn even more about her in the next book. Could she have been killed for reasons other than getting Zack elected?

Maybe their mole, sensed that she was falling for Zack or Roman and she would end up messing with their plan.

Boy, I was having the same thoughts, Lynn. I’m at the point where I’m uncertain about Joy and who she really was.
Remember, a woman was coming to see Constance and signed her out the night she died. It was someone Constance liked and trusted, a member of the family. I think that woman was Joy.
She may have been killed for all the right reasons.

She is involved some how. It will have Roman and Zach put in their place thinking she was the "perfect" political wife.
I always thought that Joy seemed "too good". And then when we find out that she started a relationship with Roman that was more than just friendship, it gave me an uneasy feeling. Would you do that with your husband's best friend and oh, by the way, your hubby is President? I don't think so. So I'm wondering too if she wasn't the person that took Constance out for a drive.
The more I think about it, I bet Joy knew how Gus felt about Roman. She is probably Courtney's cousin.
Wow! Joy is definitely a lot more than she was portrayed in the earlier books. Her marriage to Zack wasn't a love match, we all know that. Joy may not have known how lonely that would be. Roman is kind and sweet to her and she reaches out to see if there could be more. I know that is risky, but she's lonely and he's nice and hot. I don't doubt she knew about Gus and Roman, but Gus was history at this point.

Oh, that’s good😂

I’m inclined to agree. Joy had a plan and I’m thinking it was more than what we’d originally suspected.

I just don't buy Joy as a Russian plant. Did they kill her in order to make sure that Zack won? Why would they kill their own asset? I think they killed her because she knew about the switched babies from Constance.
Zack was losing. When she was killed, he gained a sympathy vote. They had targeted her during three events and killed her only one week before Election Day.
My money remains on her being compromised.

Joy comes across as quite manipulative here. She deliberately befriended Gus, played the perfect political wife and cozied up to Roman. There is definitely more to her actions and I would not be surprised to learn that she was involved with the conspiracy in some way. I don't think she expected them to kill her though.

I thought Constance died before Zack was running for President. Although I'm not very good at keeping the events in sequential order here. It's at times like this that I wish I had the ebooks but the prices were too high to buy both.
I do have the ebook and in Seduction in Session, Lara and Everly had a conversation where Everly noted that Constance had died nine years earlier. That would be before Zack became president.
Joy was assassinated one week before Zack was elected.

Jonetta wrote: "I do have the ebook and in Seduction in Session, Lara and Everly had a conversation where Everly noted that Constance had died nine years earlier. However, in this book, it is implied but not stated outright that Joy died first.
Based on this, I am revising my opinion and think that Joy is the woman who signed Constance out of the sanitarium. This also reinforces the idea that Joy is part of the conspiracy.
