I didn't want to believe that another attack was happening. But it was. After 2 years of peace, we'd have to fight again for our freedom.
And the worst of all? I could do nothing to fix. Or at least that's what I thought that morning.
The days passed by and we were getting used to the gunshots and the daily death announcements. Italy was on the verge of destruction. Our enemies were now stronger than ever.
Our doom was impending. there was nothing we could do. The enemy had no weakness. Or so we thought....
It was the first day of December. The war was extremely hard for the soldiers with all the rain and snow. But that day, it was discovered that maybe our chance to win was not a new weapon or an atomic bomb, it was a person. At least that's what they told me when they kidnapped me from my house and my mum. "This has nothing to do with hate. We need you. Italy needs you"
I felt oddly empowered. I wanted to help Italy. I wanted to help my mum. I wanted to see her happy again.
Firstly, I had to cut any connections with other people, including my mother, off. I was now the secret weapon. I shouldn't be seen anywhere. Secondly, ...
I had to kill. People. Other humans just like me who also deserved a shot at their lives. But i ended theirs for them. Whilst my own continued.
Shock was running through my veins while listening to this announcement. I had already regretted my positive response. But now there was no going back.
And that's what I am going to do, I thought the second before I fell asleep to the new bedroom they gave me.
Me and my family had always hunted. We were known to be accurate. After my father died I had become the breadowner. Sometimes I would make a fortune out of just standing in the hugh street and shooting apples on peoples heads with precision. While it earned my living it was the peoples "entertainment" But there were many like me. Why was I chosen????
Things simply didn't add up in my head. So the first thing I did when I woke up was demand another conversation with the headmaster of this mission. I had to clear everything up.
He kindly agreed to see me and an hour later there I was, outside his office bracing myself for answers
Knocking his door I felt my panic taking over my emotions. What if what I was about to hear turned my whole world upside down? Not that this hadn't happened already. My thoughts were interrupted by his steady voice: "Come in"
My hands were almost shaking as I shut down to a black chair, opposite to his. "I heard you had some questions you wanted to talk about"
"That's right" I answered trying so make my voice sound as steady as possible.
"That's right" I answered trying so make my voice sound as steady as possible.
“Why you?”he asks mockingly trying to imitate my high pitched voice. “Well I’ve found myself asking that question for a while now”
"But first I want to see your point of view. Why do you think it's you? What do you have that makes you important enough to stop a whole war?" he asked.
The look he gave me made me realize how helpless I must have looked at the moment. And I couldn't allow that to happen. I had to show my powerful and bossy self. "You tell me. That's what I came here for"

The gun shot forced me to wake up. "Not again", I thought.
