Christine PNW (moonlight_reader) | 1231 comments It occurs to me that a number of our reads will likely have adaptations, and that we might want a place to discuss them.

So far this year, there are fairly well-regarded adaptations for The Third Man and Strangers on a Train, from our side-read catalogue. In addition, most of Christie's novels have been adapted at least once, and some of them have multiple adaptations.

What does everyone think?

Love the idea! I know I tend to seek out adaptations when available, and as with The Third Man, sometimes they are better than the source material!

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) (themis-athena) | 471 comments I'd mostly be interested in watch-alongs for the side reads (though *not* Strangers on a Train, which I hate). Most of the available adaptations of Christie's own works -- except for some of the most recent, um, tries -- are on constant rotation in my home viewing anyway: what I would find interesting there would be a discussion as to how the plot alterations made by some, even essentially faithful, adaptations change or perception of the story, or of individual characters. (Looking at the likes of you, Murder on the Links.)

Does anybody know if there is a screen adaption of our "set in France" side read, Maigret en vacances? There are so many different TV incarnations of Maigret out there -- but I confess I've so far never tried to match up individual episodes with the books.

Amazon Prime has nine seasons of Maigret, in French with English subtitles. Episodes may be purchased individually. Season 4, episode 1 “No Vacation for Maigret” is at this link: https://www.amazon.com/Maigret-Englis...

Oh, interesting, thank you -- the Bruno Cremer series was actually one of my first introductions to Maigret, but it's so long ago that I don't remember a single specific episode, lol. Season 4 is not yet on Amazon Prime Germany (we only have Season 1 so far) ... but it will be something to look for whenever we get to that point!
