A Selection discussion

((do you want cal to go get sophie then move over here?))

((We can just skip right here if that's easier.))

((it doesn't matter. Can you start?))

Sophie nervously walks into the mansion. She hadn't been outside of the castle in years, let alone looking like she did.

Cal offered Sophie his arm. "Is it better than expected?"

Sophie nods. "Yes, actually. Of course, I am a little nervous, but this is going to be loads of fun."

"It is. " They walked through the doors into the ballroom.

Sophie gasps at the glamour of the ballroom. She should be used to the expensive beauty in things at this point, but she couldn't help but feel this way. "How often do you come here again?"

He smiled. "Once a month.Are you glad you agreed to come?"

Sophie nods, her eyes falling onto her dress. She was overjoyed to be here but she wasn't quite sure where to start. "So...what do you want to do first?"

Cal thought for a moment. "Would you like some food?"

"Yes, that would actually be nice." she says and blushes. "Lead the way, Cal."

Cal led her toward a table in the back, grabbing two plates. "What would you like, Sophie?"

Sophie looked over the table, ignoring all the savory snacks. She instantly drug Callahan over to the pastries and began to fill her plate

"You have an affinity for sweets?" he asked, snatching on from her plate.

"Yeah," she replies with a laugh. "Maids dont get a ton of treats, just whatever is left from the main meals."

"We hardly ever get sweets either."

Sophie stuffs a donut hole into her mouth. "No one will ever know." she whispers playfully.

Cal stole another pastry from her plate. "No they won't." He hesitated. "Sophie, you can't tell anyone about this place, the ball, anything."
He would make sure they left before the meeting started, but he had to make sure she knew how important it was that she stayed silent.

Sophie pauses. "Okay..." She lowers her gaze, then looks out at everyone around her. Her eyes fall on Cal. "Am I not supposed to be here?"

Cal rubbed a hand over his face. "You can be here, it's just...risky. Because they don't know you."

((Ohhh, this is getting good. Who is They??))

Sophie eyes him nervously. "Who, exactly, doesn't know me?" she asks.

((the rebels))

The rebels. But he couldn't say that. "Everyone here."

"Cal, I'm confused...what are you not telling me?" she looks into his eyes, some kind of panic stirring inside of her. She felt in some way that she was in danger. "Maybe we should just go..."

"All I'm saying is be careful and keep this place a secret. Okay? You don't have to worry , just do those two things."

"Okay...I trust you." she says and places her plate down on a nearby table. "Care for a dance?"

"Sure." Cal grabbed one more pastry.

Sophie tugs at her dress nervously and walks out onto the dance floor. It had been years since she had danced and she didnt want to embarrass herself in front of Cal.

Cal followed Sophie. He was afraid he'd scared her, and that hadn't been his intention.

Sophie offers him her hand as the music starts.

((Sorry for the late reply. We have been in the mountains for a few days so my data signal isnt strong at all.))

Cal took her hand and they moved to the dance floor. "Is blue your favorite color Sophie?"

((Its okay!))

Sophie shrugs as they begin to waltz. "I don't really have a favorite color if I'm honest." she says.
