Hello Members,
The Board of Directors have voted on a two-week shut-down of AHA and the MRR/PL to give our volunteers some well-deserved time off for an End of Summer Holiday. The Meryton site will be offline from August 17 through August 31, 2021. The site will go dark and no one will be able to log in to post or read stories.
Member registrations will resume and emails will be answered beginning on September 1st when they return.

The heroine knows Captain Wentworth through her brother, who served with him in the Navy. Anne Elliot does not appear.

That first one has no reviews and the blurb was not very helpful in telling me what the story is about.
I read the blurb and it didn’t make any sense. My first thought was it was written in another language and translated into English very poorly.
I downloaded it and paged through some of it and it looks like Pride and Prejudice went through a few rounds in Google Translate and back into English. And I quote:
“Not so hasty, in case you please. I even have never carried out. To all of the objections I even have already urged, I even have nevertheless any other to upload. I am no stranger to the details of your youngest sister’s notorious elopement. I understand it all; that the younger guy’s marrying her became a patched-up commercial enterprise, on the expence of your father and uncles. And is this type of lady to be my nephew’s sister? Is her husband, who's the son of his past due father’s steward, to be his brother? Heaven and earth!—of what are you wondering? Are the sun sunglasses of Pemberley to be for this reason polluted?” “You can now don't have anything in addition to mention,” she resentfully replied. “You have insulted me in each viable method. I ought to beg to go back to the residence.”
Have to say I love polluting the sunglasses of Pemberley.
I may have to read this for the humor value. “Mr. Darcy, I am a totally egocentric creature; and, for the sake of giving alleviation to my personal emotions, care now no longer how tons I can be wounding yours. I can now no longer assist thanking you on your unexampled kindness to my terrible sister. Ever considering the fact that I even have recognize d it, I were maximum annoying to well known to you ways gratefully I experience it. Were it recognize d to the relaxation of my own circle of relatives, I ought to now no longer have simply my personal gratitude to explicit.”
“I am sorry, fantastically sorry,” responded Darcy, in a tone of wonder and emotion, “which you have ever been knowledgeable of what may also, in a wrong light, have given you uneasiness. I did now no longer suppose Mrs. Gardiner became so little to be
trusted.”
“You ought to now no longer blame my aunt. Lydia’s thoughtlessness first betrayed to me which you were worried withinside the matter; and, of direction, I couldn't relaxation until I knew the details. Let me thanks once more and once more, withinside the call of all my own circle of relatives, for that beneficiant compassion which caused you to take a lot hassle, and endure such a lot of mortifications, for the sake of coming across them.”
“If you'll thank me,” he responded, “allow or not it's for your self by myself. Much as I admire them, I accept as true with I concept simplest of you.”
Elizabeth became an excessive amount of embarrassed to mention a phrase. After a brief pause, her partner delivered, “You are too beneficiant to trifle with me. If your emotions are nevertheless what they have been closing April, inform me so straight away. My affections and desires are unchanged, however one phrase from you'll silence me in this situation for ever.”
Oh-My-Gosh! That is hilarious. Thanks for sharing that with us. I needed a laugh this morning and I can't believe that went to press let alone put out there. This should be marketed as fractured P&P. Or better yet... P&P, Lost in Translation.

Omigod, Katja, that is the funniest thing ever! I love stuff like that. I remember an interview with Madonna that got this treatment, being translated into an Eastern European language and back into English, and it came back with the headline “I am a tip-top starlet”! Possibly my favorite line of this one is “Elizabeth became an excessive amount of embarrassed.” And so she should be after repeating the word “withinside.”
Katia, this reminds me of my Dad. He was from Austria and had a bit of an accent and would occasionally mix up a word of two. His most famous one we in the family is using unconscious in stead of self conscious. As in “that was very embarrassing I felt very unconscious.”
