I started reading! Ok so I liked the writing style and the first chapter drew me in, so I am interested to see what is going to happen.
The first chapter is Maggie’s thoughts as she is getting married to Nico. We get hints she is maybe not so keen on the marriage or excited by it and it was more his idea than hers. A few indications are given that he is pushy and more in control. We also see that she comes from a rougher, poorer background than his family and she is worried they don’t approve.
I think this will be a book I can read quite quickly.

I liked the writing style too. I think it portrayed real feeling for some of the characters (from Maggie's point of view) but still it felt lighter than expected.
At the beginning, I thought like you that she's not so keen of the idea of marrying Nico and that it's more of a good opportunity for her than actual love.
But, after reading more, I felt that she really loves him (How she cares about his daughter's feeling and his feelings at the "in sickness" part).
Maybe it's more of "am I worthy to be his wife" thing than " I don't want to marry him" I don't know yet.
Off to the second Chapter :D

Chapter 2

(view spoiler)[ *I'm not sure how I feel about Lara yet. But, I really felt for her when she talked/thought about her Father
*This chapter continued the portray of the stereotypical arrogant Mother in law for Anna.
*it was so ironic to read how Lara felt that Maggie doesn't care about people's opinions after reading Maggie's panicking thoughts in the chapter before.
* I totally understand why Sandro couldn't ignore the spider as a 33 years old me would totally freak with a lost cat or not :S (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 3&4

(view spoiler)[ *I love how the Author is having two ways of speaking/ Thinking for Lara and Maggie as 2 different women; some writer makes me feel that all the characters speak the same way which is really annoying.
*in the 3rd chapter, I was really invested in the Maggie/Anna argument. From one hand, I was like "what were you thinking" when Maggie choose to speak to her Mother in law about moving of all subjects. On there hand, I gasped (loudly) when Anna dropped the "forcing him to Marry you" bomb :D
* I can understand why someone like Anna wouldn't accept Maggie but what I can't understand yet, why does she clearly prefer Massimo over Nico?
* It's official, I don't like Massimo. And, I'm not sure if I overthink it, I think he has something to do with the cat's disappearing! (hide spoiler)]

Hey, sorry I was away over the weekend, and on my ipad I couldnt read your last two posts for some odd reason.
I agree with your point about it being a lighter story than I thought it would be to begin with anyway, lets see. I am finding it quite easy to read so I'm reading quite quickly but I will post chapter by chapter reviews later on.
I agree, I like the writing that you can tell very much it's two different women, the way they think and talk.
I like the fact that both woman seem to have an opinion of the other that is really far removed from the truth. They both are good at presenting a front which is not how they actually feel inside.
I agree, I cant suffer Massimo! also as the book continues I'm finding Nico a lovely guy but a bit bland. But I shall post examples etc when I do the chapter by chapter later on.

Chapter 5 & 6

(view spoiler)[ My dislike of Massimo is deepening. The two incidents at lunch ~ first of all he insists Sandro has to eat the soup even though Maggie happily offered to make a sandwich annoyed me. I don’t agree with spoiling kids but also there is no need to force feed them or leave them to starve. Then when he said to his mum he was felling ill and Massimo wouldn’t let her leave the table with him was awful. We are seeing that Lara is trying to manage everything so as to avoid upsetting Massimo and to avoid him being angry with Sandro. He is quite clearly a bully!
We see that Maggie’s mum is very observant and she comes to the rescue in these situations. I really like her manner and down to earth attitude.
We also learn Lara wasn’t a fan of Caitlin although the rest of the family seem to worship her. (hide spoiler)]

Hey, I actually finished the novel but didnt get a chance to post more yet.
I'm still happy to discuss by chapter if you have time and want to. I didnt want to post loads of stuff if you are not reading it at the moment.
