She was always going to caught and buried and Reed was going to save her.. I saw that coming a mile off. But to be buried on top of her Dad.. that was awful!
This was not surprising. I expected it for the whole book, but I like how Nikki stayed calm and was able to help herself.
Yes, me too. I think she did show some personal growth by the end of the story which will only get stronger as the series progresses. Reed is probably a positive influence on her.

I liked that Nikki kept her cool in the most awful of circumstances. She knew she wouldn’t survive if she didn’t use her wits and refusing to beg for her life and curse the killer was part of that means to survival. Nikki wasn’t giving him any of the satisfaction he was looking for. Recalling that ankle holstered gun was a result of her calming down and thinking. Loved it that she helped save herself.
Finding herself on the other end of the story helped Nikki become a better journalist, at least more measured and mature.
