Carlton | 93 comments I reread this nine years ago, so have not read a third time, but my impressions from 2012 were that it is a good book, and still relevant, but it felt worthy. I also thought that it has dated in that the ideas, which might have been novel at the time, now feel familiar and well used.

I have reread some of Bradbury’s other books more recently and enjoyed these more, especially The Martian Chronicles, which although really a collection of related short stories, made more of an impression; so melancholy! I want to quote Lord Byron’s poem which is used in one of the stories:
So, we'll go no more a roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.
