I loved this book a lot. I didn't expect it to end quite like it did, like the who and what he was after as well as the very last thing that happened in the book; I didn't see that coming either. I think she'll find a way to be able to go back to London to be a part of the Shades, but I have no idea what they'll go up against. How can you top the Ripper?
I stopped reading this book around chapter 30 or last night so of course I had dreams about Jack the Rippers ghost coming after me! I just finished though! I am totally going to read the second one and possibly send this to my adopted brother who's either in Africa or Iraq to distract him from his deployment. I was confused until the ending though. I thought it was the original Jack the Ripper who was after Rory until I realized it was basically a copycat. I absolutely loved this book though. Kept me on my toes and guessing the entire time I was reading it!
I just finished book 3. No spoilers, but this series continues to surprise me!
What happened in the last two pages made me want to get my hands on the next two books. I hope Rory goes back home to the states at least once (even though the series is called Shades of London). That would be interesting with her ability.

T..."I've got the second one already on my kindle, but I'm not quite ready to actually read it yet! I keep getting called into work on my off days and I want to be able to sit down and actually read without interruptions.
I don't generally read a lot of YA, but I've never read any of Maureen Johnson's books, so I thought I'd give this one a go. I finished it in about two or three days' time, and was very pleasantly surprised by it. I might even pick up the sequels. I liked all the twists and turns and how the world seemed plausible within itself. Definitely glad I took a chance on this one.
I'm really wondering what happened in the last two pages! I actually really liked how it all turned out with the Ripper ghost being who he was and what his plan was. I literally stayed up until 2am reading this...until my body just fell asleep against my will. Ha ha! This was such a fun read and That cliff hanger makes me want to continue on with the series so I hope that the next book is just as good.
I finished this about a week ago and I can still visualise the scene in the disused Underground station. It felt like the other pupils at the school almost disappeared from the story as it went on but perhaps that reflected how Rory's world was changing. This was the first Maureen Johnson book I've read and I'm glad I did. I will probably pick up the two sequels and maybe the short prequel at some point. Also, I just received her fanfic perk from Equality FTW so that's worked out nicely
So this book did not stand a chance once I started reading it. I don't think I really even stopped to put it down. While I didn't quite connect with Rory, I just had to know everything. EVERYTHING!!!!I'm glad I didn't put it down.
I may have growled at the cliff hanger at the end. It's official. I need the rest.
This was my first Maureen Johnson and I liked it.
I absolutely loved this as well! I hadn't read any other Maureen Johnson books because they didn't sound like my cup of tea. I actually tore through all 3 books this month and now am cursing myself because I have to wait for book 4. The Shades of London series is really good for binge reading!!!
