Yes honestly same about Celeste, everyone seems to like her but so far I don't. I guess she is going to have some character developpment

I am at chapter 16, but behind my discussion, so I have to go back over, so here is some of it.

Chapter 1-3:
(view spoiler)[I honestly do not like Aspen and America; I am sorry if any of you do. I do not like them together. I feel like their relationship is only romantic, and that's fine, but I think that part of the reason they were together was that she believed that no one else would love her. I know somebody could say that for Maxon, that she is only using him because he does, but I don't think it's the same at all. Maxon is her friend first, and they seem to have a solid platonic bond just as much as their budding romance.

This whole love triangle between Aspen, America, and Maxon, will end badly and with someone's hurt feelings and probably more than one person's hurt feelings.

Living in America, I always think it's funny how this is set in a futuristic America by a different name; it is bizarre. I also absolutely love Halloween so, it makes me sad to think that would not exist after this.

Chapter 4-5:
(view spoiler)[ Marlee knows something about America and Maxon and their mutual feeling for each other. I can still see that there are some things she is keeping, but I am glad that they still have each other through all of this, and they can tell each other things. I also liked that some customs we have now for weddings and stuff are still going on, bridesmaids and stuff; I love that and dream of that at my future wedding.

I love how America is powerful in her opinions and seems a great debater even if she is nervous, very quick on her feet. I liked that she is against the draft because I agree that it's unfair, especially when they have no choice. I think her idea for the voluntary draft is a good idea and Chris's idea about including women because Women can fight just as well as any man. I liked the idea of a voluntary draft, because as she said if the soldiers are doing it under free will, they will fight better and be an army easier.

Chapter 6-7:
(view spoiler)[ America is getting frustratingly jealous, especially since she straight up told her that if she said that she wanted it, there would be no one else but her.

I love the family moment and love the moment between America and Mae and also Mae and Maxon. Maxon is such a sweetheart. Have I said enough, how much I love him?

It is so sad how true this future could be, especially about China and Russia. Though it is weird how computers are not thought of anymore, they went back to typewriters or only paper. I guess I always thought there would be an advancement in computers instead of going back in history.

I don't like Kota, he is arrogant, and instead of being happy for his sister, he is trying to use her for her possible new status.

(view spoiler)[Seriously, America, I am getting frustrated again with her. She has to decide; it is unfair to want both of them and not have the ability to choose between, but also get jealous every time they give another girl attention. I agree with Aspen; if you don't want him, let him go. Jealousy is a very true thing that happens, but AHHHHH!!!!

On a happier note, I loved the Halloween party and how Marlee and May get along so well.

Now she promises both of the things that she can't keep if she gives them to both. I feel like she says that she chooses Maxon, but I don't believe it.

Okay, poor Marlee, and honestly, that made me a little sick; it's like the public stoning's that used to happen such a long time ago. I understand why Maxon had to do it, probably because of the land's laws, and if he didn't, Maxon would put them to death. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I understand Maxon's point of view, even if it is awful. I don't want America to not feel sad about Marlee, but also I feel like she should think from his side. Also, I don't like how he does one thing even if it's huge and she is back feeling Aspen is the clear winner.

I LOVE THE QUEEN!!! She seems to really care for America which clearly says something, about America's chances. I also love that she agrees with America, even if she can't say it out loud.

I don't like this fight going on between Natalie, Chris, America, and Elise, especially since they all agree how it would be hard and had times where they were close to Marlee.

In my opinion though, America often plays the victim, she is selfish and she gets angry when the two boys she wants talk to other girls when she literally cannot decide to choose one of them, which is only going to hurt their feelings.

Now if we ignore the love triangle situation, she can be considered realistic and different from the stereotype of girls but i think she is taking her "role" as "not like other girls" a bit too seriously!

I agree with what you said about marlee and carter and i feel bad for maxon because he couldn't have acted differently and America knows for sure that he cared about Marlee and that it hurt him to do that. Chapter 12- 13:
(view spoiler)[ I do not like that reporter; it's clear that their views are the views of the monarchy or at least what they have said their views are. America cares for the country and has good ideas about it. I also think that Maxon loves her.

I feel like the rulers are not necessarily calculating but have to satisfy everyone, making difficult choices. These decisions are why I couldn't be a ruler of any kind. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 14-16:
(view spoiler)[I like Chris and hoping that she and America could be friends because they both seem to need one right now.

I do not understand why the King and Queen couldn't see America. I hope that gets resolved somehow; I hope that it's not because of anything wrong.

I keep wishing that all the girls will find some comradery soon.

Now the action is starting, though it isn't a good sign that the rebels were there.

I wanted to yell at America for getting jealous over Chris again because Chris got hurt, and Maxon was a sweetheart about it. Then I wanted to yell at her again because she ran into the woods when the rebels could come and get her.

Now I want to know who this Jeremy is and the girl and boy?

What happened to Marlee is very sad, but it was clear that she was hiding something so i kind of expected it.
Also America keeps annoying me, and Aspen keeps acting like Maxon is such a bad guy when he's not. The thing is, it's clear that Maxon has some obligations as a prince and he might not agree with them but he dosen't have that much of a choice sadly.

I still don't get how someone can like Celeste.
Aspen is trying so hard to say bad things to America about Maxon just so he can have her and it's really getting into my nerves cause he is oviously lying.
Mazon may have to make some difficult and hard decisions but it's not like he has a choice, he is a prince! And it is so obvious that he feels ad but it is his obligation.
America keeps being the same...

hey everyone, i finished the book! Sorry i read it faster but i'm going to be a bit busy the next few days so i thought it would be good to fiinish this now.
It became more interesting towards the ending. I think it's going to be 3 stars. I'm excited for the next one :) Do you think we could buddy read it when you are all done with "The elite"?

Chapter 17-18:
(view spoiler)[I am glad that Aspen got her back out of the forest and she survived, though I am still annoyed that she goes from Aspen to Maxon, both of them are so head over heels for her. I want her to figure out who she chooses soon, and stay with that choice. Also I hate that she still is so jealous of other girls with Maxon, when she is going behind his back to be with Aspen. Chapter 19-20:
(view spoiler)[As I thought, people think that America would actually be a good Queen, and not just good for Maxon. Even the Italians believe that, which is amazing, she deserves to have people on her side, especially people who believe in her as a ruler.

Wow her father gets her so much, and I think that will get to her the most.

I am so happy that Marlee is okay, and wow she is married. I am so happy that Maxon is so good for her like that. I honestly thought he was showing it to her, because it was going to be her room or something, which is still very possible.

I hate how everything has gone back to competition between them again. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21-22:
(view spoiler)[I appreciate that Maxon and the King have to ask permission from the Queen, to come into the Women's room, like that is her place to be.

I feel sad that Maxon and the King are leaving, and hoping nothing happens to them or the people of New Asia.
I think it's good for Maxon to say goodbye to all three of them, but I think there was clearly two girls he favored. We all know he favors America, but I also think that he likes Chris, and if he can't have America he will pick Chris. Though I also think there might something else there too.

I wonder what Maxon thought when he saw America's bracelet, I wonder if he knows something. I also wonder what he was going to say to America before he had to leave.

I am glad that she looked at the Queen when they left, and clearly feels compassion towards her. I feel so sad for the Queen, that would have to be hard for her.

I know that America is closer to Aspen, because they know each other better, but I hope that she will choose soon, because it will hurt people otherwise. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 23-24:
(view spoiler)[GO CHRIS!!! I knew I liked her, I am so happy that they are going to consider each other as friends, and not try to get in each others way. They are friends first, competition second.

Especially with Marlee gone from the competition, I am happy that she can find some friends in the completion.

I wonder who that note was for, and I wonder what Ann and Mary were talking about when America came in.

The diary made it seem like Gregory Illea, is not as good as he seems.

I feel like her choice is shown now on her wrists, the two bracelets, both show a person who wants her, and she has to decide between them.
Why does she feel so unconfident in herself and also in Maxon, she seriously is so untrusting of him that she thinks he is lying? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 25-26:
(view spoiler)[That project would definitely be hard, but I also understand it in many ways. Honestly I think that I could think of a lot of issues, but not have a way to figure out how to make them better.

I agree with Maxon, and I would feel the same way, because It's very unfair to expect Maxon to just keep waiting, especially when it's not just like any other decision, it is a decision involving feelings and his heart.

Ahhh, now she is pushing both of them away, because of all of this. Though I wish she could talk to somebody about her project, she seems to have no one.

Okay I am right about Gregory Illea, he sold his daughter, and seems to only care about power and not even his own family.

That is the scary part about history, is you get told something so many times, it becomes like fact. Especially if no one from that time is still alive to say or prove differently.

I don't think that Maxon is like that, he makes mistakes, and trying to tell her something, but she won't listen. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 27-28:
(view spoiler)[Honestly I know what she was going to say was going to be bold, but damn that was not good.

I feel so bad for Natalie, especially since she doesn't know what is going on, and so far away from her family.

I had a feeling that the King was going to abuse his son, and by the way he was described afterwards seems like I am right.

Chapter 29-30:
(view spoiler)[Okay these two chapter broke my heart, even though I have gotten annoyed with America with the whole love triangle BS, but I feel so sad that she has to leave. The stupid King, I do not like him, and can't wait for Maxon to be King, because he is what the country needs.

I am so happy that Ann, Mary, Lucy, and Aspen, are all alive. I feel so sad that nothing else can happen. Though, I am also happy that America is finally taking sometime for herself, (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 31-32:
